    1. Re: [MURRAY] Rebecca Pankey
    2. Hello, I wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who helped me with the Pankey line. It doesnt look like Rebecca married my John Winters after all. I have a death certificate for a one of John Winters daughters. Her name was Annie Winters Sullivan. She died in Titus Co, TX in 1969.On her death certificate she named her mother as Rebecca PINKEY. Im sure alot of people know how it is with speelings on death certificates.....We know Rebecca was born in 1849 GA, lived near Gordon Co, and was married about 1871 or so. This seemed to fit nicely with Rebecca Pankey, who was also born in 1849 GA and lived not far from Gordon Co. My Rebecca list her parents from NC. All my Winters settled in the Walker, Dade and Floyd Co areas. John Winters was married before to a lady named Martha Jennings who was from Gordon. We have been unable to find John on the 1870 census After using the soundex on census for Pinkeys in NC and GA the only name that seemed to fit was for Wiley Pankey. Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Murray Co Board has been by far the freindliest and nicest board i belong too. Alot of the boards lately seem to have alot of fighting among the list people that has nothing to do with genealogy. Thanks again so much. Ronnie

    3. Ronnie, The Pankey name has undergone many variations. I have run into death certificates where a different relative was accidentally placed into the line where the mother or the father should have been. This seems interesting. You may find a "Pinkey" who fits. If not, I wouldn't rule out Rebecca Pankey as some kin to your family--maybe the informant remembered the name, but got the relationship wrong. They couldn't have pulled the name "Rebecca Pinkey" out of thin air. Were you able to see the death certificates for any of the siblings? dkp ----- Original Message ----- From: <RONNIE0967@aol.com> To: <GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 13, 2002 12:52 PM Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Rebecca Pankey > Hello, I wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who helped me with the > Pankey line.
