The Pankeys are in both Gilmer and Murray Counties. Elizabeth and Rebecca's father, Wiley Pankey, rec'd 80 acres of bounty land in Gilmer Co., Ga. in 1851. He also applied for bounty land in Whitfield Co. in 1855. I'm not sure if he received this land in Whitfield Co.--he may have. It's hard to read the papers. In 1870, he is in Spring Place, Murray Co., Ga. Wiley's daughter, Elizabeth Pankey, married David Wesley Pritchett, who also moved from Gilmer County to Murray County. I never found a record of their marriage, but they lived in northern Murray County and are buried at Calvary Baptist Church. Rebecca [Littleton] Pankey (Wiley's wife and Elizabeth's mother) sold land to David W. Pritchett in 1882 and 1886, in northern Murray County, tenth district. This would be well north of Spring Place, in the area between Sumach, Fairy and Crandall. David and Elizabeth (Pankey) Pritchett live next door to Wiley in 1870. Several of my lines (Headrick, Dunn, Pankey, Pritchett), who are typically found up around Crandall or Fairy, seem to be in Spring Place in 1870. I don't know if this is a matter of moving, or a matter of postal addresses covering a different area at that time. An 1869 survey map shows that district 9 (Spring Place) and district 10 are adjacent to each other. I don't know about the marriage you mentioned, though. Please let me know if you find Rebecca or any of the siblings' marriages on record anywhere. I have the marriage dates/locations for Mary Ann, and Sarah. For James, I have a marriage date, but not a location. By the way, it's possible that I previously mentioned different dates on Rebecca's land transactions. The land was "signed, sealed and delivered" some months after the dates that are mentioned within the deeds as the dates of transfer--so on the first one, it carried into 1883. D.K.
