    3. Am researching the family of Eli Wetzel who was in Murray Co. in the 1840's and on. His wife was the daughter of Julius Bates of that county. We are trying to connect a Julius Wetzel to this family. One of Eli's sons was Watson Wetzel in the 39th GA Infantry from Murray Co. Several sources say that Eli was in Murray Co. in the 1840 thru 1880's however, I have only been able to find him in the 1870 census living with his son Watson. Does anyone have any record of the family in 1850 and 1860? My hope is that in one of those censuses there will be a son, Julius, listed. Thanks, Paul R.L. Vance

He is our Bates Historian and he is very knowledgeable of all the family.     3. Look in the 39th Co "A", seems there is a Warren A. Wetzel there. The Murray Co. web site.
