Vickie, Your James Strawn is listed in the Murray Co. Heritage Book, I don't have the book but he is listed with My Edward McAbee in the story of the Ft. Mountain church. Will copy part of what was sent to me. "The following brethern met according to request. Elder James Adams, Edward McAbee and James Strawn. After Prayer by Bro. Adams, they formed themselves into a presbytery and called on the petitioners to present their letter, whereupon the following brethern and sisters came forward" They formed the Holly Creek Church. My Edward McAbee is listed as a Baptist minister in the 1850 census of Murray Co. I am also interested in the Strawn family as my G-G-Aunt, Martha Louisa Hess, married William David Strawn June 5, 1851 in Murray Co. Does David fit in your tree? I suspect he was related to James, due to living in that same area. James M. Strawn married Lucinda Cross 6 Dec 1847 in Murray County, Ga. James left Lucinda and Georgia before the 1860 census and Lucinda left before the 1870 census. Both wound up in Texas. The dates on Lucinda (Loucinda) 's gravemarker lists her date of birth as 20 Aug 1829. The 1850 census for Murray Co listed her birthplace as Alabama, but on the 1860 census and the others following, has Georgia. The only dates that I have for James is his birth was about 1830. I believe that he may be the son of Jackson Strawn, and if not, related. They were all living in the same area during the 1850 census. I am also wondering what happened to one of James's daughters Amanda ) that stayed behind in Georgia marrying Joseph J. Hampton on 6 Oct 1886 there in Murray Co. Any help would be appreciated.
