    1. Re: [MURRAY] Families lived in or connected to MURRAY CO. GA in early days
    2. Hello, cousin! (or cousin-in-law, as the case may be). My grx3grandfather was James McGhee, grx3grandmother Mary Couch. They settled in Spring Place in 1834 and were the parents of James Monroe McGhee, m. Mary Amanda Cleveland. Their children were John (unproven child), b.1805 NC, Burton, b.1811 NC, Ambrose (unproven, my grx2grandfather) b.abt 1815, James Monroe, Albert, Elizabeth and Larkin. I say "unproven" because, although there is considerable anecdotal evidence that John & Ambrose were sons of James & Mary, they are not mentioned in his will and we've yet to find the relationship documented. As it happens, I am putting together a brochure to be distributed to my family mail list inviting whoever wants to come to attend a mini-reunion we are planning in Dalton the end of March and mention in it the graves of James Monroe and Mary Amanda. Any additional information you have on the McGhees greatly appreciated!
