    3. Mike, Hi, my Berry family was in Tennessee in 1850, and in southern Kentucky in 1860. The earliest one I have is Green Berry, born 1804 in North Carolina. His parents were from Virginia (per 1880 census information). Green stayed in Kentucky, but had a fairly large family. I don't know much about any of his children except the one in my branch. Green's children were: John, b. abt. 1830, James, b. abt 1832, William, b. abt. 1833, Tabitha, b. abt. 1836, Asa, b. abt. 1839, Alfred, b. abt. 1841, Andy, b. abt. 1843, and Thomas, b. abt. 1845. I haven't done much Berry research. I don't know what happened to Andy, or if any of them migrated to Texas (or Georgia, for that matter). Tabitha, Alfred, and Thomas were in Kentucky in 1880 with Green, who was a widower by then. Asa's son Chester A. Berry moved west, first through Texas, then settled in New Mexico. He brought his brother Prentice and his sisters Jaysa and Lucy. He also had a brother named Vernon, don't know what happened to him. The reason they migrated was that they tended to die of Tuberculosis. Chester had T.B. and the doc told him he was going to die soon, so he left the wet climate and got well! If any of these names sound familiar to you, let me know. Jayme Berry
