    2. Would you have anything on a Hegwood Family that lived in Murray County and is on the 1850 census? Mother Elizabeth Hegwood age 38 son Jame M(Monroe) age 20 daughter Elendar age 15 son William R age 12 daughter Clarissa age 10 daughter Mary Ann age 8 and son Joseph P age 4. My gg grandfather was James Monroe Hegwood, in the 1860 Census he was in Mitchell Co, Ga and had married and later died in the Civil War. But nothing on the rest of the family. Looked before 1850 and after nothing. Seems they just disappeared. Would appreciate anything you might have. Thanks so much for looking. Dorothy Hegwood Miller Jmiller789@aol.com

    2. Pg 579 Murray Co Heritage: One of the early settlers of the Alaculsey Valley in Murray Co was a bachelor named Feutz (later spelled Fouts) of German descent. He acquired a great part of the valley and set up three water-powered mills, one on Jack's River and two on the Conasauga. He also ran a woodworking shop, making furniture, etc. His lathes, saws and presses were run from power from the water wheel. Mr Solomon Fouts remained single until he was past forty. He had 60 slaves, including the slave children. He married Minerva Yantz from Spring Place. He took two horses and went for his bride. They were married and rode the horses back to the Alaculsey. Solomon and Minerva had eight children. Mary md Anderson Coxey, Jim was killed in a storm in TX. Sarah married BossKendrick. Elizabeth m J Houston O"neal; Emma married James Hale; Benjamin m Mary Ann Arthur; Richard was Richard Kendrick's grandfather; Minerva md Loraanzo Poteet. 2. There are two McCarty's in the Murray Co index. All from the l940's. Pg 397: Crown Craft Inc began in a tim building wouth of the pst office on 4th Av. The company then oved to the Rogers buildingon Second Av and the across the street there the Frank McCarty's had begun another chenille business in l942.. Page 468: while Chatsworth Industries gave the textile industy a much needed boost, "spreadhouses" and "rug plants" on a maller scale had been around for several years. In the early l940's Frand and Fannie McCarty founded McCrty Chenille in Chatswoth. The Co became a leading carpet manufactuter and moved to Dalton in l949. ________________________________________________________________ GET INTERNET ACCESS FROM JUNO! 1. [MURRAY] Nancy, Sally & Sherrod McCarty, Job & Samuel Tye
    2. My ggg-grandmother was Nancy McCarty b. ca 1809 in Georgia, most likely Oglethorpe Co., but not positive. She married Job Tye there 26 January 1826, and they remained there until around 1838 when they moved to Murray Co. GA to live on the land Job won in the Cherokee Land Lottery. By 1854, they & their 5 children (Nancy Ann, John Samuel, Thomas Jefferson, Georgia Ann & Henry Miller) had moved to Carroll Co., Arkansas. The last known record I have for Nancy McCarty Tye is the 1860 US Census for Carroll Co. ARK, though her husband Job Tye & son, John Samuel Tye are buried in the Denning Cemetery in Harrison, Boone Co., Arkansas. At the time of the 1820 US Census for Oglethorpe Co. GA, the household of Sally McCarty contained a young girl of the proper age to be my Nancy McCarty, and this family was near to the family of Samuel Tye which had a young man of age to be my Job Tye (Samuel & Job are believed to have been brothers). Sally McCarty is the widow of Sherrod McCarty, having been married in Oglethorpe Co. GA in 10 Jan 1801 ~ I believe that Sally Finn & Sherrod McCarty are probably the parents to my Nancy. I believe Sally "Sarry" & Sherrod McCarty also had children Lucretia "Creasy" who married Seaborn Waggoner, Daniel McCarty who married Sarah Latimer, Sherrod McCarty Jr. and possibly a son named Thomas. So far, my research (which has been limited to date on the McCarty's) indicates the other children of Sherrod & Sally (Finn) McCarty remained in Georgia. ANY help on this family would be gratefully appreciated. This family has been like trying to find a matchbox boat in the middle of the Atlantic. ~gina thomas patterson~ Long Beach CA LET THE PEACE OF THE HOLIDAY SEASON VISIT YOU & YOURS THIS MONTH AND ALWAYS please visit my website at www.burningskyenterprises.com family album - http://www.geocities.com/ginaburningsky4/burningskyent_genealogy.html
