Nancy, Yes I am related to a Dean Holland ...cousin a few times removed....though we've never met. I think he was from Centerton, Ark. before going to Tulsa, if he is the same fellow. Yes, I would certainly like having those copies and how nice of you to share. Thank you very much. Sincerely, Shirley
I am looking for ancestors from Georgia. Back then some persons only had single names, so I will submit the names and go from there. On the Drennen Roll of 1852,Family Group #537, pg. 185, the following family was listed, Father: Tah-noo-wee (DOD:1900) Wife: A-key Son: Sul-le-te-skee (DOD:1873) ??? High-ah-nee Son: Oo-yo-tucker (DOB:1846,DOD:Sept,1903) ??? Uc-qual-ah Daughter: Ah-ney Daughter: Sally The wife's father was a Fishinghawk Fourkiller. I have information on a Toonow-wee that filed a claim in Murray Co. around Nov. 1836, in Rabbit Trap Town, as recorded by field agents Young and McMillian. Possibly on one of the north bank tributaries of the Coosawattee, possibly in Dist. 8, Section 3. Another "Toonoweh, was recorded in Blue Ridge Co.(former Union County) by agents Kellogg and Shaw in 1832. He lived on Hemptown Creek. The two remaining connections were in 1838 where a "Too-no-wee" was a member of the Cherokee Natl. Comm. Also, in 1839, a "Tah-noo-we" was a petitioner for removal of certain Cherokee Chiefs. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!

I'm interested in corresponding with descendants of William Headrick and Mary C. Emert/Emmert. They married 1 September 1843 in Blount County, Tennessee and moved to Murray County, Georgia. I'm particularly interested in finding another family researcher who is working on these direct lines. Children of William and Mary Headrick are: Rhoda Headrick (b.1845, Tenn.) Mary Headrick (b.1846, Tenn.) Jacob Headrick John Headrick Daniel Headrick (b.1857) Frederick E. Headrick (b. abt. 1858, listed in 1860 census) Drucilla "Sis" Headrick (b. 1861, married Sam Grigsby) W.A.L. Headrick (married Anna L.B. Dunn) Notes: One of the sons was born 23 Dec. 1850 and married Annie or Anna Hightower. (There has been some confusion among researchers as to whether this was John or Jacob who married the Hightower). One of the sons may have married Mary Caylor. The middle names and nicknames of these individuals tends to vary. One of the sons may have been called "Doc" or "Dock" Headrick. I am only interested in corresponding with those who are willing to share sources of information so that I can double-check and verify the data. I have documents on William and Mary Emert Headrick that I am willing to share. My Headrick family tree is on line. To view it, go to Southern Muse and click on "Families of Alabama & North Georgia." Visit Southern Muse: http://www.southernmuse.com
The names Jacob and Samuel seem to alternate through the generations, so it would be most interesting to have info on this Jacob.....I thank you so much for your efforts, as it means a lot to many of us in the family. Thankyou, thankyou....Shirley
Shirley, I found this in the 1850 Murray County GA census. The Murray County Heritage book mentions more Holland's, but not William. Do you have any other names? One family is a Jacob Holland. It is quite long, will take me a while to type it out. I am still looking for more names in the book to see if it mentions Samuel N. Holland. This is what I have so far: Caleb Holland 34 SC Family 1669 Elizabeth 32 SC Moses 9 SC Moses 6 SC William 3 SC ------------------------------------------------------------------------ James Hollen (Holland) 46 SC Family 171 Anna 43 SC Elizabeth 21 SC James M. 18 GA Mary Posey 46 SC Riley Smith 2 GA The last two names seem to be in the same household. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jesse Hollen (Holland) 32 SC Family 175 Elizabeth 23 GA Mary 6 GA Martha 2 GA E.W. Allen 40 (MD) GA William C. 10 GA -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minyard W. Harris 36 NC Family 1683 Matilda 24 SC Elizabeth A. 6 GA Margaret 2 GA James T. 6 mo. GA Samuel N Holland 16 SC Laborer. Just a thought, Matilda could be Samuel's sister. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Page 198 John C. Bates 38 SC Catherine 37 SC Naomia 18 GA Louisa 16 GA Caroline 14 GA Julia G. 12 GA Irwin 9 GA Jane 7 GA John 5 AL not sure about this state of birth Frances 2 GA Martha 1mo GA Hope this helps, good luck. Let me know if you want the Jacob Holland family, he seems to be the father of the Jesse Hollen (Holland) above. Louise ldens@baysat.net
Shirley, do not have much information on Hollands have been trying to locate as my gggrandmother Margaret Plemons 2nd husband was Joseph B Holland b 1832 in SC they had 5 children Henry b 1867, William b 1869, Margaret b 1874, Elizabeth b 1875, Georgie b 1877 and Addie b 1881. I have found them on the 1870, 1880, 1900, 1910 Murray co. census. on the 1900 census Margaret is shown as a widow so assume Joseph had died between 1880 and 1900 but since there is no census for 1890 is hard to narrow down the date range. I do remember that there were other Hollands on census but did not write down any information If you should find out that Samuel and Joseph are Brothers please let me know. Bessie
My great grandparents were Samuel Newton Holland (1834-1901) and Martha Bates Holland (1840-1909). They were from Murray County Ga. then moved to Benton County, Ark. Martha Bates parents were John C. Bates..and Mary Jane Mobley Bates. I believe the Hollands moved from SC to Ga. earlier, but know nothing about Samuel Newtons parents. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou, Shirley
Looking for family of JAMES CHAMBERS Born 4-19-1894 died January 1977. Resided in CHATSWORTH,GA. 30705. Georgia social security # 258-01-8800 Thank you very much. Ray
Hello List, I have just signed on so here is who I am and what I am researching. My name is Steve Strickland. My line is: George W., John Robert, William McKinley, William Roy then me. My brick wall is George W. Strickland's father. The reason I signed on to the Murray County list is Thomas Cronan. He married George W.'s child, Mary Ann. I was hoping to find descendants of George W.'s other children so I could find out what, if anything, they knew about George W. and his parents. My Dad says Thomas Cronan is buried somewhere around Chatsworth. Does anyone have anything on Tom Cronan? Here is all I have: Tom Cronan b. March 1852, married Mary Ann Strickland (b. 1862, Gilmer, GA) November 9, 1893. They are in the Gordon County, GA, census of 1900 and in the Polk County, GA, census in 1920. Mary Ann died in 1936, and since she was ten years older, and was buried in East Etowah, McMinn, TN, next to her brother and sister in law, I figure Tom must have died near to but after 1920. Thanks in advance for your time and help. Steve Strickland

There seems to be a few small cemeteries that are not listed, but very few. If they haven't updated recently they don't have much after 1971. Jim H.

Mabye it depends what name it put in. I just put in my family names and last only and it gave the webpages that have done research on those lines. Kaye does a grat job, there in Murray. God Bless
I don't think it is all of them and I don't think these are complete listings but Kaye may have completed them recently. Anna, you might want to check into or get a copy of "Murray County Heritage" in addition to the other book(s) that others have recommended. It covers many people and many families in Murray County and includes an awful lot of history as well. Marcelle White at the Whitfield-Murray County Historical Society has these books also, so if you contact her about the marriage books, you can ask her about this one as well.
