    1. Re: [MURRAY] Wetzel family of Murray Co.
    2. I am also researching the Wetzel family. I have only gotten to the 1860, they probably came to Murray Co., GA from Gilmer/Fannin Co. GA. Before that they were in Buncombe/Henderson/Transylvania Co., NC. I will share what ever I find connects with your, if you can send me the census records of your Wetzels there in Murray Co., GA. I just got back from the Library yesterday and it will take me a few days to organize my Wetzel. There were a Jacob & Margaret 'Summey' Wetzel that moved into Buncombe Co., NC in 1802. They had a large family, but only three sons so far as I know. The sons were Henry, John, & Jacob Wetzel. I hear that Jacob Wetzel died before 1850 in Murray Co., GA. Henry Wetzel died before his father Jacob Wetzel Sr died, that was in the early 1820s. His wife married again to a John Thomas. They remained in Gilmer/Fannin Co., GA. I am not too sure about John Wetzel right now. Hope this helps. Keep in touch with me please, Wylene

    3. Am researching the family of Eli Wetzel who was in Murray Co. in the 1840's and on. His wife was the daughter of Julius Bates of that county. We are trying to connect a Julius Wetzel to this family. One of Eli's sons was Watson Wetzel in the 39th GA Infantry from Murray Co. Several sources say that Eli was in Murray Co. in the 1840 thru 1880's however, I have only been able to find him in the 1870 census living with his son Watson. Does anyone have any record of the family in 1850 and 1860? My hope is that in one of those censuses there will be a son, Julius, listed. Thanks, Paul R.L. Vance

    2. M Lucas
    3. Hi List, Does anyone in Murray County Georgia have access to the 1880 census? I am looking for John H O’Neill, James Whitamore. I have two versions of the 1880 census. >From the Murray Co. O’O'Neill son age 16 James M. O’O'Neill son age 11 Elisabeth Keith age 30 Edward Keith age 4 On this version Elisabeth and Edward shown as black If any one can help me find the correct version I would certainly appreciate it. They are on Chattanooga Avenue in Dalton, GA and their phone number is 706-278-0217. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Dustbunnies90@aol.com> To: <GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, March 17, 2002 7:46 AM Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Wetzel family of Murray Co. > P.S.
