    2. D.K. Pritchett
    3. The Pankeys are in both Gilmer and Murray Counties. Elizabeth and Rebecca's father, Wiley Pankey, rec'd 80 acres of bounty land in Gilmer Co., Ga. in 1851. He also applied for bounty land in Whitfield Co. in 1855. I'm not sure if he received this land in Whitfield Co.--he may have. It's hard to read the papers. In 1870, he is in Spring Place, Murray Co., Ga. Wiley's daughter, Elizabeth Pankey, married David Wesley Pritchett, who also moved from Gilmer County to Murray County. I never found a record of their marriage, but they lived in northern Murray County and are buried at Calvary Baptist Church. Rebecca [Littleton] Pankey (Wiley's wife and Elizabeth's mother) sold land to David W. Pritchett in 1882 and 1886, in northern Murray County, tenth district. This would be well north of Spring Place, in the area between Sumach, Fairy and Crandall. David and Elizabeth (Pankey) Pritchett live next door to Wiley in 1870. Several of my lines (Headrick, Dunn, Pankey, Pritchett), who are typically found up around Crandall or Fairy, seem to be in Spring Place in 1870. I don't know if this is a matter of moving, or a matter of postal addresses covering a different area at that time. An 1869 survey map shows that district 9 (Spring Place) and district 10 are adjacent to each other. I don't know about the marriage you mentioned, though. Please let me know if you find Rebecca or any of the siblings' marriages on record anywhere. I have the marriage dates/locations for Mary Ann, and Sarah. For James, I have a marriage date, but not a location. By the way, it's possible that I previously mentioned different dates on Rebecca's land transactions. The land was "signed, sealed and delivered" some months after the dates that are mentioned within the deeds as the dates of transfer--so on the first one, it carried into 1883. D.K. 2. There is an excellent Pankey family history book available. Have you seen It? I found it in the Memphis library. It contained a lot of information of the Pankey while in South Carolina and beyond--They have a connection with the Newberry's...some of my ancestors.

    3. Ah ha! This put it together so I could put my two cents in now. The name Amanda did it. From Murray County Marriages by the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society Amanda Pankey married William Holloway on September 15, 1873. The original records would be at the Murray County Courthouse. 2. The only mention of a Pankey in the Murray Co Heritage is on p 496. This is much too late for a genealogy, but it may mean Pankey's are still in that Co. "In l980 the FFA string Band was invited to the Natinal FFA Convention in Kansas City MO. 1. [MURRAY] WAGGONER, WAGNON
    2. Hi all, I just recently joined this group. I have been working (off and on) on my Dad's family for many years. Murray County is the furthest back I have found them. The difficult thing about that is they were in the 1850 census without the dad and I don't know how long they were there. The mother, Elizabeth Waggoner, is listed with all her children born in GA. She is in Gordon County in the 1860 census. Some of the kids did stay in Murray County. Here is what I have: 1850 census, page 195, dwelling #668, enum. date 3 Oct Waggoner, Elizabeth 55 SC Andrew J. 31 GA John H. 27 GA Peter 25 GA Sanford D. 23 GA George W. 21 GA Sarah 19 GA Seabor J. 17 GA Thomas A. 14 GA Pace, Caroline 33 GA Waggoner, Nancy A. 9 AL My connection to this family is through George W. who married Emeline Rowland just 1 week after the census on 10 October 1850. By 1860 he and Emeline had moved to McMinn Co., TN. I found a cemetery: Wagnon - Martin Cemetery in Murray County with the following: Elizabeth (wife of G. E. Martin) 1824 - 1878 Alex Wagnon 1856 - 1940 Santford D. Wagnon 1826 - 1905 Sarah C. Wagnon 1829 - 1896 Alexander Martin 1797 - 1874 Sarah Martin 1799 - 1869 I believe Santford D. Wagnon is George's brother but not sure if Sarah C. was sister or sister-in-law. Would sure appreciate hearing from anyone working on this line. Would sure like to know who Elizabeth Waggoner's husband was. Thanks, Karen
