Hi Jean, I need to bother you with a question. My Dad was born in Spring Place, Murray Co. ,GA on Feb. 23, 1882 to Stephen Goodson Carter and Martha Ann Shelton Carter. Stephen Goodson was born in Ashville, Buncombe Co. NC on Aug. 14, 1837 and Martha Ann was born in Cleveland, Bradley Co., TN. My Dad's name was Thomas Coffee Carter and he was one of 8 children born to Stephen and Martha. I have often wondered where Dad's middle name came from and have thought , perhaps, that he was named after someone kin to or a close friend of the family, but I still don't know. Do you have any knowledge of or connection to the Carter's in Murray County? Tom P. He died 12 June 1865. His will was written and witnessed in Early Co., GA and and was probated in Randolph Co. I am trying to find when an! d why he moved from the northern part of Georgia to the southern part. Does anyone have anything on these families. I have names of the Cofee children but James and his wife had no children. Thanks, Jean Pace

I have Wiley's daughter Rebecca as "Rebecca Amanda Pankey," born about 1850. She is listed as "Rebecca A." Pankey in 1860, and "Rebecca E." Pankey in 1870. I had seen the marriage of Amanda Pankey to the Holloway, but I wasn't sure if that was the same person as Rebecca Amanda. There's a B.J. Littleton on the old Murray County map (circa 1889?) and there's a Burrell Littleton, aged 31, in Murray Co. (10th Dist.), in 1880. He has a Mary J. Hollaway (age 36) in household. I don't have a relationship for her, but she is listed underneath Melissa Gorley, who is an employee (both are farm laborers). Does anyone know if Burrell and B.J. are the same, and if he is (they are) any relation to Marcus Littleton? dkp Visit Southern Muse: http://www.southernmuse.com (includes "Families of Alabama and North Georgia") --- Lynda Gibbs <lynda2@bellsouth.net> wrote: > Holloway, William Marrried Pankey, Amanda 15 > Sept 1873 Vol IV pg 378 > > Murray County Georgia Marriage Records Book I-IV, > 1835-1905 > > Lynda > > At 10:34 PM 4/8/2002 -0700, you wrote: > >Ronnie, > > > >Maybe I can help.
