I have about three or four more rolls of film to have developed and put online. I hope to get that done soon. Oh and hey do you want me to add the James name to the surname page for you? Talk to you later and please keep checking back with me, Paula ----- Original Message ----- From: "analogkidd" <analogkidd@email.msn.com> To: <GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 9:43 PM Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Whitfield County Web Page > Paula, > > Since I last visit this site you have may a big differenence to it. Just received above book and wanted to say thanks to who ever posted the books availability on list. It is well worth the money and I found several of my names there plus a picture of my great grandfathers younger brother and his son. Bessie
I need the list. My great grandfather was Benjamin Franklin Jackson He lived in Spring Place. He married a lady with the last name of Green.(Born around 1840) She is mygrandfather's mother. I cannot find her in 1869 and 1870. Frank moved to Mulberry Arkansas and I found him with a new wife and my grandfather was with him. I thought maybe his first wife died. Pat
The Jackson Cemetery Located in the Doolittle District on Jenkins Road in Murray County. (Near Chatsworth) Line 1 Sallie Jackson 1820-1900 (Sally F. Jackson - birth 5 August 1820) Lucy Jackson 1800-1887 (Lucy White Morris Jackson - birth 18 December 1800) William Jackson 1798-1872 (Born 25 December 1798, died 13 June 1872 in Murray County. Married Lucy White Morris 11 November 1819) Line 2 Benjamin Jackson 1845-1863 (born 25 February 1845 ..I have his name as Benjamin Floyd and that he never married. Death was 21 Sept. 1863 at Battle of Chickamauga(???) I guess someone really gave me some misinformation. Please bring me up to date on this line) Thomas A. Jackson 1836-1869 (Born 1 October 1836, died 14 Mar. 1869 at Spring Place. Supposed to be buried in Jackson Cemetery. Do you have a marriage for him?) Infant of J.J. and L.A. McClure 1880-1880 (The McClure line comes in through Mary Ann Jackson who married Walter McClure. She is supposedly buried in Rabun County) Please correct any information that I have added above. I am trying to get as complete a story as I can on the Morris descendants. On the Military Roster for Co. B (Also known as Co. K) 39th Regt. - 'Jackson, B.F. --Private- March 10, 1862. Roll dated April 30, 1864, last on file, shows him "Absent, sick, sent to General Hospital at Jackson, Mississippi April 10 1863, he received monthly pay at Selma, Alabama No later record'. It sounds like he found his way back home and died there. -----Original Message----- From: PWesterfie@aol.com <PWesterfie@aol.com> To: GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com <GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Tuesday, April 16, 2002 1:18 PM Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Morris $ Coffee >I need the list. Thank you ever so much...It would seem the names Jacob and Samuel were often used in this family. How nice of you to forward this information to me....Shirley

For Shirley Arthurs: Samuel N. Holland was a Pvt. in D Company, 9th Regt., 3rd Brigade Ga. State Troops. Mustered in 11 Dec 1861, Whitfield Co., Ga. The family was Household # 761-21, Dist. 1013, Fancy Hill P.O., in the 1860 Murray Co., Census. He was 26, b. SC, Martha was 20, b. GA, with child, Margaret L. 10 mos. old, b. GA. Samuel N. was the son of Jacob Holland of Cherokee Co., AL, 1850 census and Murray Co., GA 1860 census. Deed of his wife, Elizabeth, Murray Co. Deed Bk L, p. 109, proves this. Other ch. of Jacob & Elizabeth named in deed were: Francis J., Sarah, Elizabeth, Harriett, Emeline, Mariah, Katharine, Henry and Antonet. My ancestor was another JACOB HOLLAND, who was in Forsyth Co., GA 1840, Walker Co., Ga. 1850, Whitfield Co., GA 1860. Would love to hear from anybody about this family.

I probably have stumbled across some information that you all on the Morris and Coffe line will be interested in. I was at Whitfield county courthouse Friday. I'm searching for info on James P. Morris who married Christina (Liz) Overby. I found a will on a James Morris. I'm trying to read off a few names real quick. I'll try and scan it into the computer later , who ever is interested, email me in a few days. Thomas Morris and Franklin B. Morris, The widow and children of my brother Eppy B. Morris, My brother and sister William and Lucy Jackson. My brother and sister John G. and Betty Parks, my oldest sister Patsy ?Stonecypher. My brother Elisha Coffee and children of Polly Coffee. He also states that he gave some land to Molly Parks widow daughter of Elisha & Polly Coffee , he left the land known as the E.R. Young place. It states his wife is Harriett Morris. If anyone knows who my James Morris is, please let me know. I believe his middle initial stood for Polk. His wife Liz was a a midwife. Dotti
Ronnie, The Pankey name has undergone many variations. I have run into death certificates where a different relative was accidentally placed into the line where the mother or the father should have been. This seems interesting. You may find a "Pinkey" who fits. If not, I wouldn't rule out Rebecca Pankey as some kin to your family--maybe the informant remembered the name, but got the relationship wrong. They couldn't have pulled the name "Rebecca Pinkey" out of thin air. Were you able to see the death certificates for any of the siblings? dkp ----- Original Message ----- From: <RONNIE0967@aol.com> To: <GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, April 13, 2002 12:52 PM Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Rebecca Pankey > Hello, I wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who helped me with the > Pankey line. Hello, I wanted to say thank you very much to everyone who helped me with the Pankey line. It doesnt look like Rebecca married my John Winters after all. I have a death certificate for a one of John Winters daughters. Her name was Annie Winters Sullivan. She died in Titus Co, TX in 1969.On her death certificate she named her mother as Rebecca PINKEY. Im sure alot of people know how it is with speelings on death certificates.....We know Rebecca was born in 1849 GA, lived near Gordon Co, and was married about 1871 or so. This seemed to fit nicely with Rebecca Pankey, who was also born in 1849 GA and lived not far from Gordon Co. My Rebecca list her parents from NC. All my Winters settled in the Walker, Dade and Floyd Co areas. John Winters was married before to a lady named Martha Jennings who was from Gordon. We have been unable to find John on the 1870 census After using the soundex on census for Pinkeys in NC and GA the only name that seemed to fit was for Wiley Pankey. Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that the Murray Co Board has been by far the freindliest and nicest board i belong too. Alot of the boards lately seem to have alot of fighting among the list people that has nothing to do with genealogy. Thanks again so much. Ronnie

Hi Charles, My Great Grandparents, John and Georgia Chadwick moved to Ooltewah, Tennessee about 14 miles or so from Cleveland, Bradley County, Tennessee and lived there until they died. They are buried at McDonald Cemetary in McDonald, Tennessee, about midway between Ooltewah and Cleveland. Sounds like there might be a connection. Thanks so much for the information. If I learn more I will let you know. Cathy
