Good Morning Mac I do not know if this will assist you are not but, in the 1960's I was General manager of Acme Lumber Comapny in Dalton, GA and the yard foreman's name was "Amos McKinney". One may find some thing by using this man to back track. Amos died. My father was in Murray Co. on 13 June 1900 when the census was taken. I'm trying to locate my half brother's Luke and John McKinney b. Nov 1899. My father was Lemuel McKinney and his wife's name was Ida. He married my mother in 1920. Thanks Mac McKinnie
There is a Dr Arnold Tillman here in Cartersville. When I met his mother years and years ago, she talked of being raised with my mothers people in Chatsworth. He lives on West Avenue in Cartersville. Do not know where he is in practice. Hope it helps you. Thanks for your response. I am not familiar with any connection of this family to WILLIAMS. Caleb Holland and Elizabeth Cox married in Anderson County, SC, in 1841. They had moved to GA by 1850. Here is the info I have for them: Elizabeth COX (b. 18 Nov 1818, Anderson County SC; d. 19 Nov 1900) d/o Isaac (d.1831, Anderson, SC) & Sarah Cox (d.1863, Murray County, GA) Caleb B. HOLLAND (b: 4 Dec 1816, Anderson County SC) s/o Rev. Moses Holland - founder of Big Creek Baptist Church, Anderson SC I am a descendant of Isaac & Sarah Cox by their son Aris Cox Sr. (Elizabeth's older brother). LeClaire
Is there any Cox/Williams/Holland connections in Murray County during this time? I seem to remember the Cox name spoken about when I was very young. I am particularly curious about the Williams part. would greatly appreciate the 1860 Murray County Census information for the household of Caleb and Elizabeth Holland. They were both originally from Anderson County, SC. Elizabeth's mother, Sarah Cox, should have been living in the household at the time. I am descended from Sarah Cox, so I am particularly interested in any details about Sarah or Elizabeth. I am especially interested in Sarah Cox's place of birth. Thanks for your help! LeClaire Allison email: ronsprayberry@aol.com
I'm also working on Hugh and Margaret Huffman Burk/Burke family. Like to make connections to other descendants. Don't know how/if Talitha/Tilman connect. Saw the article in book mentioned below and made a few notes which I have if you want them. Didn't say his parents unfortunately. (Book also gives separate article on Talitha and her parents, if I recall correctly) Joyce (Woodruff) Terrana, Burleson, Tx In a message dated 2/4/03 1:01:14 PM Central Standard Time, GAMURRAY-D-request@rootsweb.com writes: > > X-Message: #2 > Date: Mon, 3 Feb 2003 16:47:03 -0800 > From: Lt28Ret@aol.com > To: GAMURRAY-L@rootsweb.com > Message-Id: <200302040112.RAA20638@ns1.inland.net> > Subject: Re: [MURRAY] Hugh Burk/Burke > > My G grandfather's sister, Talitha JOHNSON b. 1840 NC. married a Tilman > Thomas BURKS b. 1837 Murray Co., Ga from Murray Co. Hello, I haven't made any inroads on my research in this area. I'm trying to find information on the lawyers Mann & Mann, of Dalton, in the 1920s. If you know anyone that can help, I will be very grateful. Robert Smith On Mon, 27 Jan 2003 10:57:07 -0800 Jumuel@aol.com writes: >Hi >I saw your post on Murray Co. Hi Joe, Somehow I was listed on Mann and should not have been. My research is on Headrick and Caylor. Sorry I could not help. Good Luck. Diane Smith
I would also like to hear about the MANN line(s) from Murray County. My DEAVER line was in Murray County during the Civil War. One of them (Missouri Elizabeth DEAVER, sister to my ancestor) married Edward August MANN after they came to Bell County, TX. I believe Edward or his ancestors may have been in Murray County at some point, though I believe I have evidence which indicates they were also in Morgan County. Thanks Joe D.
