    3. Please get the work reduced to at least below the knees before bothering with this :) If possible, I am trying to trace Stone and Buckner lines in the span, 1800 to 1840 or so. Should you have any, would greatly appreciate the information, but not in any sort of hurry ron (I do CA lookups for folks ... can I help you or other list members?) 3. Hi Louise, I'm wondering if a couple of my ancesters are named in this book as well. One was Samuel Anderson James. I've been told he served in the CSA and I know he ended up in Murray co., GA. He grew up in that county as well. He went by his initials a lot. The other went by initials a lot too. Without the census info I wouldn't even know what the initials stand for. His name was Richard Hill Mobley. He was in Murray co., GA in 1850, I'm not sure yet about 1860. By 1870 he was deceased. I've been told that both of these men served in the CSA. Any info is appreciated. 3. Is there anything in the book about the 22nd Ga. Inf., i think Co. D. or maybe it was C, i'm not looking at my notes right now. my gggrandfather John Carden served in that company and was captured at Gettysburg and spent most of the war in Point Lookout prison. i live in NW Alabama so i don't have access to many Ga. records except for those online. I am planning a trip to Murray County next year and would like to know where this is located before I get there. Also, is there a map that shows the different census enumeration districts in 1870, 1880, and 1900? I have copies of these census pages but again, have no idea where it really is. Being in Texas limits the information I can access at the library and I haven't been able to find this info on line. Thanks to any of you that can help me. cindy moore

    3. Dear Mr. Hodge: Thanks for the information. I have not done much work on the reconstruction angle. My ancestor left for Texas in 1855-56. However, he did return to Murray County several times after that. His brothers apparently came to Texas after the War Between the States. While in Murray County last week, we did find the Connally family cemetary and Drewry Connally and wife buried in Mt. Zion Cemetary. However, we still cannot find where Nathaniel Edwin (Ned) Connally was buried after his body was brought back to Murray County. The Connally cemetary began with Mary Jones Connally's grave in 1870. We were never able to find the Old Spring Place Methodist Church on Highway 225. We tried on 2 different days. I don't know how we missed it. Is there a graveyard there? I believe the church itself had been moved. Anyhow, I really enjoyed my visit to Murray and Whitfield Counties; we gained a great deal of knowledge there. The people at the Murray County Library in Chatsworth were wonderful to us and very helpful. 3. Dear Rose: I was able to visit Murray County last week and found that the people at the Chatsworth/Murray County Library were MOST helpful. The historical section has thousands of documents and publications and great indices. We were searching for a family cemetary and a phone call from the librarian produced a member who mapped out the location for us. We also visited the office of the Historical Society in Dalton. They have a great deal of interesting material, but no one was there to assist us. I also purchased a wonderful book called "Murray County Heritage, Volume 2" which has worlds of information. It is expensive ($50) but it has been well worth it to me. This book was compiled by the Historical Society and can be ordered by contacting the Whitfield-Murray Historical Society, c/o Mr. Tim Howard, 329 Highway 225, Chatsworth, GA 30705. Hope some of this helps.
