Dalton is the seat of Whitfield and Whitfield was made from Murray County back in the 1800s. Good luck with your search. James Childers Urbudrose@aol.com wrote: > I am getting a bit confused. James Moreland age 16 (1864) was a boarder or hired hand with Henry & Alice Ayres. James Moreland age 15 (1865) was the son of Jennie Ingle. No husband in household. 2. Dear Leslie: Here is a suggestion. If you haven't already looked your Williams family up on the 1860 Federal Census for Murray Co., Georgia you should be able to obtain the microfilm for free through the reference and inter-library loan desk of your public library. Then I suggest that you scan it door to door for your Williams family. Judi

    3. If you understood sorrowfullness over prejudice or anything else construed as a grudge, then you are mistaken. Most of my ancestors were pioneers. They settled all over. I really can't find any of my ancestors coming in to this country after about 1720, but of course, I haven't found all of them, either. The fact is, I'm proud of my English ancestors who colonized Maryland and was worrying about how he, a major, was going to get supplies before they ran out in the French - Indian war. I'm proud of my Rev. War lines; including the combatants, the patriots and patriotress, and the chaplain. I'm proud of my Tories and NC Regulators. I'm proud of my Dutch VAN PELTs who were in New Amsterdam (later Long Island and Staten Island) in the early 1600s and the French LENOIR who was there 60 years later before 1700 and whose descendants have counties and towns named for them all over NC and TN. All of them did what they thought was best for them and theirs at any given moment. The thing is, nobody can judge what any one person is thinking by one statement that he / she makes. I heard no grudges voiced. Remorse at some things that happened that ideally shouldn't have happened? Yes. 2. Ok to have that attitude - American Indian Heritage is precious. I get a sense here some folks forget the 300, 000 plus that gave their lives for the Confederacy and fought for their beliefs and to protect their families - no doubt American Indians suffered the most - all should be acknowledged
