    1. Re: [MURRAY] Williams
    2. I had tried to find you one time before but your e mail did not go through. My family: Roy Austin Calhoun, William Cleveland Calhoun, Jeremiah Calhoun. William Cleveland Calhoun married John Ida Williams Calhoun. Her parents were Marion Holland Williams and Sara (Melissa) Swanson Williams. Parents of Marion were Moses Williams and Becky Ann Littleton Williams I haven't been researching this side of the family. Any information you would like to share would be appreciated. My daughter and I went to Holly Springs Baptist Church for a quick day trip. We visited Kendall Calhoun and wife. I attended the reunion of the Calhouns at Cool Springs a few years back. I need information on the Calhouns, Jeremiah and brothers. Where they come from? Who was John Sr. married to and where did they come from? The information in the Murray Historical book has not been helpful. Thanks for an information you would like to share. I will be glad to add it to my family tree information. I would like to go back and spend more than a few hours investigating. I haven' t been to Vicksburg to see Moses grave. I have been busy with putting my second child through college. 1. Re: [MURRAY] Robert Sherman Dunn Violent Crimes
    2. Jody William Dunn was my g-g-g-grandfather. Robert Sherman Dunn was the son of Daniel (son of Wm.) and Mary Salena Patty. He was born 9/15/1874 in Murray Co. He was married to Louis Ellis and died 5-6-1911. Robert's son Theron was my grandfather. All of the male names match up with my line of Dunn's but, I have that Daniel, Jr. (your g-g-grandfather) married Susannah Parman (6-14-1809). l would love to exchange information on our ancestors! The information I have goes back to Daniel Dunn, Sr. born 7-7-1761 in Henrico Co., VA. Your long lost cousin! Shannon Dunn Blackmon

    3. Daniel Richard Dunn (I have him as Major Daniel Dunn) is also my gg-grandfather. My g-grandfather is James (Preacher) Dunn who married Sarah Elizabeth Hughes. James and Sarah had Linnie Ann Dunn who married my grandfather George Wilson Moore. Robert Sherman Dunn comes in on my mothers side of the Dunns. His gg-grandfather was Daniel Dunn Sr. who married Susannah Parman. Daniel Richard Dunn (or Major) his father was Daniel Dunn Jr. who married Susannah Parman. We are definitely related. I love to here from other Dunn family members. I have numerous records on the Dunn family and would like to share anything I have. Let me know if I can be of any assistance, Kenneth E. 3. Ray, since Murray county is next county over to Gilmer County, you might try your search there. There are a lot of Corbins in Ellijay, Georgia, Gilmer County. As a matte- of- fact, my cousin married into the Corbin Family. They are wonderful people. Good luck. 3. Re: Kenneth Moore One of my grandfather's sisters married a Jonas Dunn. They were from Murray county. She attended my grandfather's brother's funeral in Hillsboro, Texas in 1935 and in the funeral announcements is listed as 'Mrs. Jonas Dunn' in one place and as 'Mrs. Mattie Dunn' in another spot. Do you have any info on this Jonas Dunn? and his wife, of course. Mattie Dunn must have maintained some contact with the family in Texas because I have several pictures of her from my grandparents' "stuff". The only Jonas Dunn I can find married a 'Florentine Corbin', had a bunch of kids and I think ended up in Chattanooga. One of grandad's sisters was a 'Mary E. F. Corbin' (b November 1861-GA). Mattie may be a nickname? The 'F.' could be Florentine? My grandad left Murray County in 1900 and moved to Texas. His brother had moved earlier, in 1892/93. My g-grandad, Chesley Davis Corbin, is buried in Holly Creek Cemetery just outside of Chatsworth. We have not been able to find our g-grandmother, Elizabeth G. Neal Corbin, who must have died in about 1907/8 (she didn't renew his CW pension in 1908). Chesley Davis's father, Yerby Corbin, had moved into GA from SC in the 1830's I would appreciate any info you might have and of course am willing to share all I have. Ray Corbin

    2. Kenneth, I am also a Dunn (maiden name) and my ancestors settled in Polk Co. TN and Murray Co. GA. I have traced my family back as far as Daniel Dunn who came from VA and settled in Greene Co and then Blount Co. TN. My gg-grandfather, Daniel Richard Dunn (married Millie Lawson) left Blount Co. and settled in Murray Co. when the govt. opened up that land. He and Millie had numerous children, about 15, I think. My g-grandfather was William Walter Dunn (aka Black Bill) and my grandfather was Alfred Estes Dunn, both from Polk Co. Does any of this ring a bell with you? I have never heard of your Robert Sherman Dunn but I bet we are related somhow. Jody

    3. Mark...What all do you have on the Williams' family? I am a decendent from John and Margaret Williams from Murray Co. I am looking for any info on them...I have made a connection with several possible cousins, one being only 45 miles from me now in Illinois...There was a big family of 13 children...Elizabeth is not mentioned, but I am not convinced either that my John is the brother of who this other lady in Illinois says he is...John Williams is a common name and I could be related to other Williams' instead...Do you have this name mentioned anywhere...They lived there around the 1850's...a son, John Riley Williams, my g grandfather was born in 1856, possibly Putman Co. GA and moved to Murray Co,then finally came to Illinois when he was 18...I need to make a connection to find out which group of Williams' that I'm related to...Thanks...Leslie --- mark w <lwilliams60@home.com> wrote: > Im research Elizabeth 'Littleton' Williams. b. 2. Robert: If you really enjoy doing research maybe, you can help me out........My great grand father, Robert Sherman Dunn was shot and killed in Murray County. He died on May 6th, 1911....... I'm not sure if he died instantly. It was a case of mistaken identity. He was murdered by a jealous husband. The man mistook him for someone that looked like Robert and traveled the same road. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated! Thank you! Shannon Blackmon

    3. Jack, With my scanner, you can scan, put in word processing and do anything you want to with it. I am just too dumb to do it. My son in law is an employee of Microsoft and quite an expert and I have the same thing he has and he does all this. 1. [MURRAY] 1864 Military Census
    2. Crilley
    3. Gov. Brown in his zealousness to protect Georgia and his people ordered a military census of all males - children & adults. These records included: name, age in yrs and months, whether they owned a rifle/shotgun; whether they owned a horse/tack. This is handwritten at the top of the sheet: Gov. Joe E. Browns Census of 1864. (Senatorial Census) Act of 14 Dec. 1863 to Reorganize the Militia of the St. of Ga. Enrollment of Present Militia Company District (WHATEVER THE GMD was ) I know this microfilm is at the Washington Memorial Library in Macon....and probably at many other libraries. IF anyone could help us out by typing up a portion (even one military district) that would be a great help! AND if you can't type, but would be able to make copies from the microfilm, I'm sure we could get some typists! This material has been published in a book, but the book does not contain ALL the infor that is on the film, and the book is also copyrighted. If someone is especially interested in Murray County, please contact me. Virginia Crilley

    1. [MURRAY] HENDERSON get-together
    2. Paula Franklin
    3. For anyone that is interested, there will be a get-together of descendants of JOSEPH and MAHALA MCMURRAY HENDERSON on Saturday, October 27, 2001 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Whitfield County, Dalton, GA. Bring a covered dish and your cameras. Dinner will be around 1 PM. This get-together is occasioned by the visit to our fair city of Peter and Maureen Furmidge Henderson. Peter is the son of Jesse Francis Henderson, grandson of William H. Henderson and greatgrandson of John David and Mary Elizabeth McCune Henderson. Jesse (Peter's father) disappeared during World War I and was thought to be dead. However, he fell in love with and married a young lady in England by the name of Gertrude Sanders and stayed there. After his parents death, Peter began searching for his American family with very little to go on, but he did find us and made his first visit here in 1981. We hope that everyone connected with the family will stop by this Saturday and say hello to Peter ! and Maureen and any of the rest of us that they don't know. All descendants no matter how remote are welcome. If you need directions or information please feel free to contact me. Paula http://www.geocities.com/huntingkin/ Sorry for duplicates, just trying to cover all bases.
