Deborah, In the Murray County, Georgia Marriages 1835-1905 published by Whitfield-Murray Historical Society there are 12 Moreland men listed with their brides and then there are 12 Moreland women listed with their grooms. Do you have any idea who you are looking for? If not and you want a list of them all let me know. It will take some time to type them all up but I can if you don't have any idea who you are looking for. Leslie, I wondered about who James J. was myself and wondered if the J did not stand for John in some form and that is why I included it plus the time frame would have been about right. It didn't hurt any that he married a Margaret. You might want to try posting to the Whitfield and Murray County lists and ask about Margaret Drennon. There were some large families around here with that last name and maybe you will run up on a researcher that can tell you who this James J. is. Hello, This is great information as I think it must be the right Colvard Cox. Was he the Cox that ran the gas station up near Tennga? I also have him as a friend of Leon McCamy if that rings a bell. If so, do you have a physical description of him, and do you know if he left any letters or documents relating to his time in Murray Co. in the 1920s? I know nothing about John Cox but I'm interested to see if he is connected to Willie Lee Cox. I do know a few facts about Willie Lee Cox and I have a couple of anecdotes about him. Were any of them related to Luke Cox? I have him down as a car dealer in the late teens and again in the late 20s when he owned a Chevrolet dealership. Hi Robert, I have the Murray County Heritage book. I checked real quick and found this. There's many COX'S, so it will take time to find the ones you want, also the Newspapers. Eppie Cecil Bond (bookkeeper) died 7 Dec. 1955. She was buried at Fort Hill Cemetery, Cleveland, Tenn. She was married to Colvard Lester Cox (car dealer), Murray County and Bradley County, Tenn. They had one daughter. Claudia Lillian Cox (nurse, bookkeeper) maried Major General (U.S.A.F.) James Lester Maxwell. They had two daughters, Margaret Sharon, Dr. of psychology teaching at Florida State University. She married, Howell Lykes Ferguson, lawyer, of Tallahassee, Fla. They have three children, Heather and Colin, students, and Megan, infant. Sally Ann Maxwell, computor operator, married James Mathews, gov't employee and they have one child, an infant daughter. Let me know if this is the right Colvard Cox. Louise <ldens@baysat.net>
Hi, Mr. Strickland: Thanks for the information about the military census. I was afraid of that. Unfortunately, my g-g-grandfather, Edward, never said much about his military service, and we have no idea which unit he served with. And with the little information I have on him--pretty much what you read in my post, plus his death certificate--I'm not really sure how to proceed further. Nevertheless, thanks for the information. Yours truly, Wayne Wilson
Lt, would you consider looking up a couple of marriages for me also? My grandfather, Abe Lincoln (aka Wm Abe), married the widow Florence Gray (or Grey) abt 1884. After she died in 1904 he married my grandmother, Florence Jane Keith. If either one of these are listed in the marriage book, I would like to buy a copy. I would appreciate any help. Thanks, M
