Thank you very much for your trouble. Yes, I think that Martha and Rebecca may have been living with friends or neighbors (perhaps as live-in help?). I wonder if there is any record as to who Jackson McCool married? Thanks again, Nedra

If you please, could y'all check to see if there are any census records for this family for 1850 and 1860? Are there children listed other than Harriet Cothran and Henrietta Bothran(my ggrandmother)? How about the census of 1870? Thank you both very much. Peggy

When you find the time could you check to see if marriages were recorded for a Jackson McCool or a Martha McCool? I'm trying to trace their parents, Gabriel and Nancy McCool who lived in Murray County in the mid 1800's. Thanks so much Nedra

John, I have the 1850 census for Murray County. There are 3 Nicholson's in it. JOHN, JAMES & ISSAC. Do have them? If not I will copy them for you. ldens@baysat.net
The 1864 Militia Census lists the following that you asked about: Robert Wood, 54 years, 2 months, Farmer, living in 824th Militia District I found not Hollands listed. In my personal line is a Marion A. and Dorcas Wood. Is there a connection between them and Robert Wood? Dave Bright Davebrt@aol.com
I have a Lester Arnold Headrick (b.3 Jan 1906; d.6 Feb. 1962 in Murray Co., GA). According to the death index, his death certificate lists his parents as: Henry Hill Headrick and Martha J. Dunn. Yet some researchers don't include him as a son of Henry Hill Headrick and Josie Dunn. Is it possible that there are two Henry Hill Headricks who married J. Dunns in Murray County? Could Lester have been called by a nickname, and his real name not recognized by younger acquaintances and researchers? Or is the death certificate wrong, which often happens, depending upon the informant? Since he lived a long life, it doesn't seem possible that he would be overlooked. Also, I've found a tombstone at Calvary Baptist for: Nora, dau. of H.H. & M.J. Headrick, died Mar. 1, 1905, age 1 day. Since Henry Hill Headrick and Josie Dunn had a daughter named "Ora," it seems likely to me that the same couple had this child, "Nora." No family researchers have included this child, but often, these children who die young often get left out of family charts and verbal family histories. Hello, Paula, and thank you for your prompt reply. While the name, Daniel, is rife in my family, it also appears frequently in the families of relatives who live(d) in Murray County. My G-Father was Daniel Newton Dunn, b Feb 4, 1849, and married Narcissus Ellen Waters in Dec 1875, or so my data indicates. I've never been able to verify if they married in Murray County, and would appreciate it if you help me. (By the way, my g-g-grandmother, Susannah Parman Dunn is buried in Calvary Baptist Church cemetery by Tennga. I have never been able to find much on my g-grandfather, James Dunn. I understand he married, first, Elizabeth Ridens, then an Eliza Hill (from whom I descend, if all my data is correct). Thanks for your help, Paula. I visited there in 1988 and hope to visit again. We Texas Dunn's don't get that way too often. Paula, Thank you so much, I have looked high and low, in and out and everyplace I could think of to find something on my elusive Leamon's. It was so nice of you to take the time to do a lookup for me. Thanks again Bessie

Al, The earliest Dunn marriage in the Murray County Georgia Marriages 1835-1905 published by Whitfield-Murray Historical Society, unless I overlooked one, was: Daniel Dunn married to Elizabeth McCamish on Aug 11, 1846 There are about 30 or so Dunn marriages listed all together. If there are others you are looking for and have names I will be glad to check them out for you. Jean, I think it is great that you responded on this. A lot of people would have looked at it and said "oh the age is wrong so cannot be a connection to the one I know or the state is wrong" or something like that. It is a very good chance that you have given Wanda the one clue that she would need to make that very important connection.
