I am researching the Butts family that lived in the 20th District (Harris District) between Madison and Bostwick. Jacob C. Butts purchased land from his brother-in-law Jesse Mercer in 1827. He was the son of Jacob Butts and Celia Chivers of Greene County. Jacob C. married Martha Amanda Sayers of Greene County and then had 11 children. Two of the sons, Eugene O. and William H.
