Hi, This is a very interesting obit, even if it was published in Newton County, GA. Brownwood is in the SW portion of Morgan County, near Reese where my DANIEL-RICHTER bunch lived. In looking back at the name, Grant DAVIS, I see he was a son of Richard DAVIS and Isabella GRANT of Granville County, NC and later Morgan County, GA but that was not what was interesting to me. That, was the ATKINSON and PERRY links in this family. I think I have a picture of Rev. BURRUS in my files -- taken with the RICHTERS in Reese ABT 1900 but I thought he was the preacher at the Presbyterian Church in Madison. Anyway, I also have a picture of Abigail STANTON of Covington in this same picture. She married a BEASLEY and moved to Cartersville, Bartow County, GA in 1909. Her brother is also in this Richter Family 1900 picture, which I have posted on the Morgan County, GA gen-web website. If you know the families of Madison then you will know the ATKINSON family is tied to the RICHTERS and the BEASLEY family of Jefferson/Burke was also tied to Alice Daniel RICHTER's DANIEL family who lived in Jefferson County, GA. Her father, Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) was in business with a Bryant BEASLEY but I cannot find out who he was. Also, the SPEIR family of that same area was also related to these same DANIELS. RWD cut the 1864 will for James S. SPEIR, Clerk in Jefferson County, GA. I have often wondered if the Grant PERRY of Morgan County, GA was also tied to this same DANIEL family because the second wife of RWD's younger brother, James L. DANIEL (1814-1857) was married, second, to an Ann PERRY (1807-1861) whose brother was a John PERRY (1799-AFT 1861) who was married to a PARTIN out of Twiggs County, GA. Anyway, John was living with Ann in Louisville, Jefferson County, GA in 1860 - she was worth 20K in 1860 so these were not "po folks," . Also, James was a delegate to the American Party Convention in 1854 and I know the FOSTERS, another close RICHTER family in Madison, were also members of this same political party. Are they all connected, I do not know. We believe we know who were the parents of RWD and JLD -- a Robert DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) of Burke County, GA who was married to a Penelope and migrated to Burke from NC but beyond that, we do not know who this Robert's parents were, however the CASONS may be a part of this family because a "C." floats all through this bunch. Regardless, there is a connection between this DANIEL family and Morgan County, GA -- I just do now know what it was....... John R.
