I am researching the lines of Jacob Chivers BUTTS. Jacob was the son of Jacob Butts and Celia Chivers of Greene County. He and his mother moved to Morgan County after the death of Celia's second husband, Thomas Wilkerson. Jacob bought land along Little Sandy Creek from his uncle Rev. Jesse Mercer in 1827. This was the beginning of his plantation as surrounding land was purchased over the years. All land was located in the Harris District around Little Sandy Creek and near the Mallory Church area. In 1832 he married Martha A. Sayers from Greene County, Martha was the last child of David Sayers Sr., and born to his second wife Elizabeth Martin. The children of Jacob Chivers Butts and Martha A. Sayers were: Eugene Oliver who married Susan E.
