    3. Has anyone had experience obtaining documents pertaining to the Georgia Land Lotteries? Or, is that even a possibility (obtaining same)? Let me ask the question another way. Are the "orphs" (orphans) of a land lottery participant NAMED anywhere in these documents, or elsewhere? I have a suspected RUTLEDGE ancestor on the lottery listings, and the actual names of his orphans would be a major find, either to prove, or disprove, my suspicions. Kermit Rutledge

    3. Ga. Archives states that land lottery records contain no genealogical information other than the identity of the grantee or grantees. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kermit Rutledge" <KDRutledge@webtv.net> To: <GAMORGAN-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 29, 2003 12:19 PM Subject: [GAMORGAN-L] GA Land Lotteries > > Has anyone had experience obtaining documents pertaining to the Georgia > Land Lotteries? 3. That is true but they do tell you the GA county and captain's district they lived in when they filed for the grant and they tell you where the grant they drew was located. The rest of this us up to you...... John R. 3. Lists, Ref Land Lotteries and orphans. I had a reference to the Orphans of Arnold Johnson in Butts County in the 1832 land lottery. I didn't find out all the names of the young Johnson orphans until a kind person from Butts County, sent a copy of a guardian bond and some returns to the court.
