    3. Hi, I can understand the other names you list but how are you related to the TATUMS? As for the BROUGHTONS, they were up in and around Rutledge, I thought. The PARKS were from Appalache where the SAFFOLDS were from, as I remember. The ferry was once called Parks Ferry. I am also interested in the FARMERS if they were part of the bunch in Burke County and before that in the Pitt County, NC area. There were a lot of families in Burke who had links, before and later, to Morgan. My DANIEL bunch being one of them but the WALKERS and VARNERS are others. I am not a TATUM descendent but the TATUMS were tied to my family. The TATUMS were from Marietta, Cobb County, GA and Margaret Potter TATUM (1810-1863) of Marietta was a sister of Anne Eliza Potter RICHTER (1808-1863) of Madison so Margaret was my GGA since Anne Eliza was my great-grandmother. I am also looking at something concerning the POTTERS. They may not have been POTTERS after all but PORTERS. We know that the uncle of Anne Eliza (and Margaret) was a Bishop of some variety and that their father, Arthur, was of English descent however he was born in Simpson's Bay, St. Martin's Island, the West Indies, in 1788 or there abouts. We also know that POTTER often becomes PORTER and vice-versa and the Dutch influence in the West Indies may have caused this change in Arthur's name. What got me thinking about this possibility was the Wade-Porter home in Madison -- it was later owned by the MUSTINS and then the FITZPATRICKS and both of these are family. I do not know if there is a link, yet, but I picked up a perfect given name pattern of my POTTER bunch and that of the family of Charles PORTER of Essex County, ENGLAND and he had a son named, John who was a Bishop. I do not know where this will lead but I know at least some of the early POTTER research done by other family members does not agree with the information from the Dutch West Indies, so I am looking, elsewhere, for answers.
