I would almost bet this Benjamin WHITFIELD is out of the Matthew WHITFIELD (1717-1767) family out of Duplin County, NC. He was married to two WARREN girls -- a Chloe and an Anne. Chloe was the mother of Betsy WHITFIELD who married Aaron DANIEL RS-SC and Matthew's second wife, Anne, also had a bunch of kids and these WHITFIELDS loved the names of the four gospels for their children. Their WARREN parents, according to most, were a Benjamin WARREN and a Rebecca, hence the name, Benjamin, in this WHITFIELD line. They were also tied very closely with the BRYANS and they were all rather wealthy Quakers, many of which became Methodist in later years as the Quakers moved north into OH, IL and IN because of their anti-slavery position.
