    3. Hi, Most of the early Greene County, GA bunch were connected in various ways and this included the HARRIS, BURNEY, KING, BYNE, LANIER, GOLDWIRE, WADE, COLEMAN, RALLS, WALTON, etc. Not close connections but still connected. This same relationship rolls over into Morgan County, Ga in later years. My problem is -- I know how these families interacted but I do not know all of the connections between Greene/Morgan and my primary area of interest -- Burke County, GA. However, I know there were many connections between Burke and Madison, GA. As in, John Byne WALKER who married Eliza S. FANNIN was born in Burke and his families lived right next to my DANIEL bunch in Burke in 1820. The VARNERS were also from Burke but they moved to AR but their daughter, Josie, married Edward Taylor NEWTON and then W. T. BACON, both of Madison. You might want to say these families were linked up in various ways because it was a class thing. I do not know the reasons for all of the Burke-Morgan connections but I know they exist. My basic reason for trying to understand this relationship is because my DANIEL bunch of Burke County, GA is unattached but they may well be descended from the DANIEL-BURNEY bunch of Greene County, GA. I do know that Robert C. DANIEL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) was married to a Penelope LANE (1773-1846) who I think was a d/o a Levin LANE and Penelope BRYAN. Their grand daughter, Alice E. DANIEL (1854-1924) married John C. RICHTER, Sr. of Madison in 1872. I also have a copy of an 1848 letter from JCR's mother, Anne Eliza Potter RICHTER, to her mother in New York City in which a Dr. WINGFIELD offer's Anne Eliza's younger sister, Mary E. POTTER a job in Madison and we do not have to go very far from the WINGFIELDS to the BURNEYS, do we? Mary E. POTTER, my GGA, came to Madison and married MAJ Simeon A. ATKINSON in Madison in 1851. Simeon was a younger brother of Atherates A. ATKINSON (1815-1892) who married Martha Jane FORT (1818-1875). The ATKINSONS were originally from Boscawen, Merrimack County, NH but moved to GA in the 1830's. The BURNEYS are an interesting bunch and they are primarily from the eastern areas of NC, primarily Bladen and Pitt. Simon BURNEY, Sr. (1720-1787) was married to an HARDY and their daughter, Sarah, married Thomas DANIEL, Jr, son of Thomas DANIEL, Sr. and Elizabeth LANIER of Tyrrell County, NC. Thomas and Sarah migrated, along with Simon, to Greene County, GA. In Greene County, GA, William DANIEL, their son, married Mary KING in 1789. A daughter, Nancy DANIEL married Eden COLEMAN of Greene County, GA. Their daughter, Sarah DANIEL married E. L. W. FTIZSIMMONS. Their daughter, Elizabeth DANIEL married a Peter MARTIN and their son Charles DANIEL married Elizabeth COFFEE, d/o Peter COFFEE, Jr. and Sarah SMITH of Greene County, GA. One of Charles and Elizabeth's sons was Dr. William Coffee DANIEL (1793-1868) who married Martha SCREVAN, d/o Thomas SCREVAN and Mary Ann Susannah SMITH and Dr. DANIEL owned Oglethorpe Plantation in Burke County, GA. I think these DANIELS are all part of the same bunch... All of this bunch had American Express cards. Maybe not as rich as some but not "po" either. <grin> Any thoughts or information you may have are appreciated...... John R.
