Maria Mann (b. 10 Aug 1835, GA) who were listed in the 1870 census in Morgan County as follows: 1870 Georgia census, Monroe County, PO Forsyth G---(?), July 12 1870, sheet 191 p. 178 dwelling 7, family 4 Butts, John H. 43 Farmer 350 all b. GA Maria A. 32 keeping house John E. 14 farm labour Carrie L. 13 student, attended school Wm. F. 10 student, attended school Thomas C. 4 Mattie H. 7 student attended school Edward 1 Nelson, Harry, 15, black, farm labour John was listed alone in Putnam County in 1850. He is the son of John Alexander Butts and Mattie Harrison, who were also b. in GA per John Jr's census entries. John Jr served in the Civil War, as his wife is listed on the salt list records in 1863 and 1864 in Morgan county as wife of soldier currently serving, but I haven't been able to determine his regiment yet. The family had moved to Mississippi between 1874 and 1877, based on birthplaces of children on the census in 1880. Two additional children, Mary Emily b. 1871 and George Clemmons b. 1874 were listed as b. in Georgia. Child Arthur Collins Butts, our line, was b. in 1877 in Mississippi. I am looking for any information on this family, including whether they were married in Morgan County (between 1850 and 1856), Maria's parents' names, were John's parents in the area, etc. I do not know of any siblings of John Jr, but it seems likely there would have been some. Thanks, Karen Dutton
