Nellie Ruark married William Russell Daniel, son of Joseph Daniel of Fairplay, Georgia. In 1925 Joseph ( who was my Dad's Uncle Joe ) and family moved to Shelby, NC and twins Lena and Lizzie graduated from a Shelby School in 1928 and in the Year Book they were listed as the 'Georgia Peaches' from Bostwick, Georgia. Daniel Passes Suddenly At Home Here; Wife Dies From Shock Thirty Minutes Later. Thirty minutes after Joseph E. Daniel, 70, died suddenly at his home at 206 McBrayer street at 9 o'clock Tuesday night, his 72-year-old widow dropped dead from shock while talking with members of the family. Shortly after Mr. Daniel had retired for the night, Mrs. Daniel discovered him dead in his bed and summoned members of the family who were away from home at the time. Thirty minutes later, when she was telling her children of their father's sudden passing , she fell dead after she said she could not live without her husband. Mr. Daniel had been in ill health during the last eight months, but his condition was not considered serious and he had been downtown as usual during the day. Funeral Thursday The funeral was set for 2:30 on Thursday afternoon at the home with the Rev. R.M. Courtney, paster of Central Methodist Church, conducting, assisted by the Rev. W.A. Elam, of the Dover Mill Baptist Church. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel came to Shelby from Madison, Ga., where Mr. Daniel was a prominent farmer, about 15 years ago. He had been connected with the Thompson Lumber company here until his retirement a few years ago. The well-known couple, members of the Methodist Church, had celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year. Surviving are four sons, Russ Daniel of Bostwick, Ga., Dan Daniel of Shelby, Romayne Daniel of Rutledge, Ga., and Melvin Daniel of Atlanta, Ga.; five daughters, Mrs. Raymond Harris and Misses Cleo, Nancy, Peggy and Lena Daniel, all of Shelby; nine grandchildren and a great grandchild. Both are survived by several brothers and sisters in Georgia.
