Hi, I doubt if he was born in Morgan County, GA since it was not created until 1807 from Baldwin and Jasper Counties. Baldwin was created from the ceded Indian Lands and Hancock County in 1803. I generally look at Jasper, Greene and Putnam Counties at the locations for many of these early Morgan County, Ga families. I do carry a Sylvania SHEFFIELD but she married a John D. JONES born 1832 in VA, as were a lot of these families. There are generally four areas that feed this part of GA in this early time frame. There are Eastern Seaboard families, like the CALLOWAYS, there are VA families like the HUNTERS, COLEMANS, CUNNINGHAMS, SANFORDS, RALLS and WALTONS, there are NC Families line the LANES, SWANS and some DANIELS, and there are SC families like the KILPATRICKS, SCOTTS and THOMPKINS. I do not carry any HOLLIS, so I cannot help you with this family. John R.
