Pat, that kind of genealogical stuff is fine. Anything relating to the families of Morgan County or its surrounding counties or history of those areas are perfectly suited for the MORGAN list. I always allow a wide latitude for content on any of my lists but information that has no relationship to the previous topics are a "no-no." <grin> Otherwise the list can and will turn into a free-for-all or fill our archives with so much wasteful and unneeded content that searching for information becomes a nightmare. It is my recommendation that "thank you" and kudos' be handled in a private message to the list member and not sent to the whole list, because there is only so much space on Rootsweb's servers to hold these messages. I have even seen lists where members make dinner dates on the list and I want all to know -- I frown on such activity. These types of messages should only be done in a private message to the other member and not in a public post to the MORGAN list. If you want to respond, privately, to a certain message, just copy and paste their email address over the top of the MORGAN List address into the To: section of your reply message. If you just hit the Reply button, this by default, sends your reply to the whole list,. so look at the address in the TO section of your reply and change it accordingly before you hit the Send button. However, if your reply is about genealogical or other matters, as previously described, send your reply to the MORGAN list, because often replies include additional details about your family, which may be the key link both you and they are looking for.....
