Good Morning, This is a very interesting deed. Giles THOMPKINS was an ancestor of some of the folks who later married into my RICHTER family of Madison. This deed was for Lot 29 in District 19 and we know that the THOMPKINS family owed a lot of land in Putnam. My Richter cousin, Dr. Anne KILPATRICK of Atlanta, a descendant of Giles told me the THOMPKINS and SCOTT families donated the land to the state for what became Rock Eagle 4-H center and state park and her ancestors are buried on this property in a private cemetery. I am looking for the owner of the property comprising Land Lot 74 in the same District (19) which would be located a couple of miles north and a little bit to the west of this particular land lot (29) in Putnam County. Land lot 74 was probably drawn when the land in Baldwin County and included in the 1805 GA land lottery but it could have been bought before or later. I cannot find a listing for it in the records of this particulate land lot in that lottery. This land is basically the land lot (225 acres) adjacent to the property owned by John DURDIN of Reese Community, Durdin's District, Morgan County, GA, located in the SW portion of Morgan County, below Brownwood. There also could have been multiple owners of this particular land lot (74). If someone knows who originally owned this land lot in the 1810-1850 time frame, I would be extremely grateful because my grandmother, Alice E. DANIEL (Mrs. John C. RICHTER, SR.) ended up with it by 1895 and she did not buy it which meant she inherited it from someone. That, "someone" is the name I need. Thanks, in advance...... John R.
