Dear List Members, I am a descendant of John Germany Heard, Sr. of Monroe and Morgan Counties in Georgia. I have just started trying to document this line and would like some help in looking for actual documents, leeds, websites, and descendants of this family. I descend from his daughter, Jane Germany Heard, who married Richard Hamlet in Morgan Co., GA in 1824. I have found bits and pieces of info that the father of my John Germany Heard, Sr. was perhaps a Bernard "Barnet" Heard, and that it is possible that Gov. Stephen Heard of Elbert Co. might be his Uncle. I have seen some info that Barnet Heard was related to Gov. Stephen Heard, but I need verification of this. Can anyone tell me what resources are available on the ancestry, family, and life of Gov. Stephen Heard of Elbert County, Georgia. Has a book ever been about his life, military career and politics? Is there an association, house, or museum dedicated to him that I can reference for possible proof of relationship to my line in Morgan and Monroe Counties?
