John, Under Georgia M. Jones, Pioneer (page 157 of "Morgan County Georgia Heritage 1807-1997") there is a REUBEN MANN (born 1785, died July 22, 1850) listed as the father of James N. Mann (born 1827). Reuben's wife was Nancy Harrison (died before 1840). Georgia M. Jones, (1832-Dec. 7, 1873) daughter of Dr. Elijah Evans Jones and Elizabeth Johnson, was born in Morgan County and married James N. Mann on June 17, 1849. James N. Mann's win of a house and land in a poker game was the cause of a dramatic change in Georgia laws concerning women's property rights. Julius P. Smith lost his wife's property in this poker game to James N. Mann in 1863 and the people were so outraged that in 1866 the Georgia Legislature put into effect a bill that allowed women to keep the property they brought into a marriage.
