Good Evening, We have many new members and it has been almost six months since we had a roll call so it is about time, once again. So, dust off your ancestors and their collaterals and let's see them. Be sure to list their names, their lifespans if you know them, where they migrated from (if you know) and where they migrated to, later -- if you know that. I will start with mine: I am a grandson of John Clarke RICHTER, Sr. (1848-1907) and Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924) of Madison, Morgan County, GA. Actually they lived for most of their married lives in Reese Community, Durdin's District, Morgan County, Ga but his family was from Madison and he was a partner in Richter Brothers which was owned by him and his older brothers, Arthur Potter RICHTER and Martin L. "Mat" RICHTER. JCR was a son of Charles W. RICHTER, Sr. (1807-1884) and Anne Eliza POTTER (1808-1863). All of these persons are buried in the Madison City Cemetery in various RICHTER family lots. Alice's family was from Bethany, Jefferson County, GA, now Wadley, GA. She was the d/o Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) and Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912), a d/o Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865), a Presiding Elder in the GA and AR Conference of the Methodist Church, and his wife, Elizabeth STOCKTON (1808-1888). Mary Jane and her second husband, Professor Winfield Montgomery RIVERS (1825-1905) are buried in the DANIEL family plot in the New Section of the Madison City Cemetery. RIVERS was of the RIVERS family of James Island, SC and a graduate of the University of Charleston. His brother was Dr. William Bainbridge RIVERS who is buried with all of the other big Methodists in the Oxford City Cemetery, Oxford, Newton County, GA. Professor RIVERS was also the father of Hallie Elise RIVERS, the wife of Martin L. RICHTER (1846-1924), JCR's older brother and business partner. WT Bacon (1869-1944), long time publisher of the Madisonian, and close family friend of the RICHTERS wrote in Alice's 1924 obit that she was a descendant of one of the founding families of Morgan County, GA. I assume he meant the DANIELS but I cannot connect her DANIEL family to any known DANIEL family in Morgan County, GA but I assume WT knew of this link but did not mention it in her obit. . However, my cousin once told me that the ANDREWS family of Morgan County, GA was related to her and since she is a RICHTER-DANIEL descendant, I assume she meant they were related to the DANIELS. If anyone has any information relating to a link between an ANDREWS and DANIEL connection in Morgan County, GA I would be extremely interested in this information because a DANIELS family was close to an ANDREWS family in Martin County, NC. I would generally bet that any early DANIEL connection between my bunch in Jefferson County, Ga and my bunch in Morgan County, GA would be through the Simon BURNEY family of Greene County, GA. if anyone has any connections relating to this family, I would also like to hear from you.
