    2. Dear Robert, I found the following in "Morgan County Georgia Heritage, 1807 - 1997:" "Morgan County was the home of many descendants of Charles Heard, Sr. , a blacksmith who died near the Hardware River in Alberemarle Co., VA in 1748. Charles Heard's widow was named Isabella; she is believed to be the mother of his children, since the name Isabella was carried down for generations in the family. Charles Heard, Sr. had among his children at least three sons" (1) Stephen who married Mary Faulkner, daughter of Thomas Faulkner of Chester County, PA. So many descendants of Stephen and Mary moved into Morgan County in the early 1800's that they must have represented a large percentage of the county's population. (2) John who married Bridgett Carrol moed to Wilkes County, GA. His son, JOHN GERMANY HEARD, moved to Morgan County with his wife Elizabeth Brady and a large family of children. (3) Charles, whose second wife was Margaret (Ferguson?) Brady. charles died in Wilkes County and Margaret moved to Morgan County, being taxed in Morgan County 1809-1812." I did not find Jane Germany Heard listed, but there is a long story in this book about the Heard families. The compiler was Joyce Perkerson Poole. She notes that "for those seeking the names of the Heards and their children who lived in Morgan County, a family outline has been prepared"...The chart was published in The Heard Journal, Vol. 19, and a copy can be found at the Morgan County Library in Madison, GA." Hope this helps, Estelle Cromer

    3. Estelle, I have a little different information on the FAULKNERS -- I have it that they lived in Lancaster County, PA and Mary Catherine FAULKNER was born there in 1717 and married Stephen HEARD, Sr. ABT 1738. I did not have any information on this John, Stephen's brother. Stephen, Sr (ABt 1715-1774) never got out of VA. He died in Pittsylvania County, VA in 1774. I do not know what happened to Mary Catherine. Charles HEARD was born in IRELAND ABT 1675, according to my information and Isabella ABT 1680, in an UNK location. They had four sons that I know of: 1. Thomas HEARD -- born 1742 in Goochland or Albemarle Co., VA married Elizabeth Napier FITZPATRICK, sister of Capt. Benjamin FITZPATRICK RS-VA (1745-1821) who migrated to Morgan County and was one of its first settlers. Thomas settled in Greene County, GA. 2. George HEARD -- born ABT 1744 in Goochland or Albemarle Co., VA married Sarah FITZPATRICK, another sister of Capt. Benjamin. George and Sarah settled in Wilkes County, GA. 3. John HEARD, Sr. -- born ABt 1745 in Pittsylvania County, VA (that's what they say) married a Mary MEADOR and an Eleanor and they settled, also in Greene County, GA. 4. Col. Stephen HEARD, Jr. - I do not have any information on him except he was born BEF 1746 in Albemarle Co., VA and died BEF 27 Nov 1817 in Elbert County, GA. If you follow the migration of this bunch you will see they migrated from the Goochland area northward into Albemarle and probably into Fluvanna, too, since that is where the FITZPATRICKS were from. The link they list to Pittsylvania County, VA must have been later because it is located on the way to GA. Since Charles HEARD died in Albemarle County, VA, my guess is all of the children were probably born in Goochland since these other VA counties were not created until ABT 1740 and Pittsylvania County, VA, later. My guess is all of these kids were born in Goochland, like most of the FITZPATRICKS. I am sure they also had girls that I do not know about. This is a hard bunch to straighten out and I only add them to my PAF if the information sounds reasonable which is why I only have the four boys listed, above..... John R. 3. Hello John - I live in Powhatan County, just across the river from Goochland and very close to their courthouse and historical society - if I can be of service AFTER Aug 23rd (my husband's 65th b'day and family reunion), I can go over there and look for information... Also have in my possession a 'surname book' that gives any publications relating to surnames. Diane ----- Original Message ----- From: "John R.
