Dear Jamie, What a treasure you have there with those books! I never knew there was ever a bank at Swords! Wonder if it would be possible to transcribe them for publication? I would love to help you with this if you are interested. My mother and two aunts were born in Swords on Shakerag Road. (My aunt told me the story of how "Shakerag" came to get its name. It seems that everyone in the community washed their clothes and hung them out to dry on the same day every week. The mailman would come by and say, "I see it's "shakerag" day.") Yes, I am related to the Merritts of Greene County. Two Lynch sisters married two Merritt brothers. Samantha Lynch ("Mankie," daughter of James Columbus Lynch and Martha A. F. I'm sorry it took so long to get to you, but it takes a while to go through these books they are so old. The names I came up with are: J. W. Linch that was fined $2.00 in 1911, but it does not what for. G. S. Lynch recieved money from Mr. Swords which he must have farmed in Swords $12.00 in May 1912, He still appears in it up through 1916. There was a John Lynch in 1926 and 1927.

Hello all, You may, or may not, be aware that there's a POE Surname DNA Project was recently started... and it is open to any spelling, any ethnicity. My husband's POE, was originally PFAU, and migrated from MD to OH, and then... points westward. This is of the GERMAN-SWISS lineage. George Jacob PFAU, immigrated to the American Colonies... circa 1700. Unfortunately we're not able to help with this, due to having been .........'daughtered out', but maybe you know of someone? Poe family that almost certainly derives from the Poe family that settled Essex County, Virginia by 1704. This group appears to trace their ancestry to Samuel Poe (d. 1725). The group includes Poe families known to descend from Simon Poe, Sr (d. 1993 Chatham County, North Carolina). Also included is the Poe family that settled Franklin County, Kentucky. The Poe family that settled Marshall County, Tennessee is also part of this group. 2. Poe family that arrived in Baltimore, Maryland around 1820 and is believed to have come from England. He was a Civil War Veteran having served in Co. H, 27th New Jersey Infantry. He lived on a plantation about 10 miles south of Madison, Georgia. I do not know his date of death but I am reasonably sure it was after 1900. Any information about him and where he is buried would be appreciated.
