    3. Larry, The WISE part you have around this bunch sounds very interesting. I have a Thomas C. WISE and a person who we think was a Frederick WISE around my Robert C. DANIEL of DANIELL (ABT 1765-AFT 1830) bunch in Burke County, GA in 1820 and 1830. We think Robert C. DANIEL was married to a Penelope LANE. Anyway, it was his grand daughter that married John C. RICHTER, Sr. in Madison in 1872, which I mentioned in the previous post on the HANSONS. Down in Burke, Thomas C. WISE married Sarah DANIEL (1804-BEF 1860) and her sister, Nancy DANIEL (1799-1862) married a Richard ERWIN and then a person we think was named, Frederick WISE, but we have no confirmation that his name was Frederick, only that their daughter, Nancy Frederick WISE (1836-1903) married John Robinson VALLOTTON. He and Nancy also had children named Thomas Chesley WISE and Erwin WISE. This DANIEL or DANIELL family is hard to track before they moved to Burke County, GA ABT 1812. Regardless, the parents of John Byne WALKER and the BYNES (his mother's family) lived very close to RCD in Burke County, GA. All I know about Robert and Penelope is they really tie in hard to the WHITFIED, BRYAN, JORDAN and TARVER bunch in Burke and Jefferson County, GA and they moved there from NC in 1812, according to Penelope's 1846 obit. The WISE family I really look rather closely is the one from Onslow County, NC, since I think my bunch was from either Edgecombe or Pitt but that is just a guess. I also think the Thomas DANIEL and Sarah BURNEY family from Greene County, GA is probably related to my DANIEL bunch. Are you sure you did not mean BROUGHTON in your post? John R. 3. I have been following the discussion of Hansons in Morgan Co and nearby, some of whom were possibly from Maryland. Perhaps someone will recognize the Hanson line I am trying to research in nearby Wilkes Co. I am descended from Joseph Wise of Ogelthorpe Co (1829-1906) who married Mary E Hanson (1833-1920.) Mary Hanson's mother was Margaret S Hanson (1800-1891) who was born in Maryland per census data. Mary Hanson's siblings were Walter (b 1821) John b 1823,William b 1828,Kitty b 1836,Anna b 1831 and Henry b 1838. I have information from another researcher which shows that Margaret Hanson's husband was John Maddox Hanson (1787-1838) from Maryland also. This researcher shows John Maddox Hanson's parents being Walter Hanson & Sarah Hatch Maddox and traces the line further back in Maryland. Does anyone recognize this line of Hansons? I thought perhaps John M Hanson and his wife moved to Georgia with one or more Hanson brothers. Joseph Wise had a son Edgar who moved to Madison and married Edith Webster. My father was Joseph Wise b 1906 in Madison, son of Edgar & Edith Wise. Edith Webster's parents were Albert Webster b 1850 and Ida Boughton (1856-1880) from western New York State near Buffalo. Edith Webster was raised by her grandparents John Boughton (1833-1897) and Lucy Boughton (1837-1896) who moved to near Madison in the 1870's and lived there until their deaths. Any help would be appreciated, Larry Wise Florida _________________________________________________________________ Instant message in style with MSN Messenger 6.0. 3. I see a lot of names there that match names in my Hanson line. I even have an uncle, 82 years old now, named Thomas Watson Hanson. Several of my family married Watsons. They were always near the Hansons. I hope this helps. I am Robert E. Hanson, I live in Florida now. retired Soldier, lived near Atlanta for several years, found the old homestead where Rehobeth used to be. Near Bishop, which is in Greene or Clarke county. I hope this connects. Father; Hugh F. Hanson, born July 1918, Rehobeth, Morgan County, Ga. Moved to Florida during the Depression, when crops, and farm went bad. Grandfather, Willie C. (Sometimes Chandler W.) Hanson, born 1885, Hall county, Ga. He moved to Morgan county about 1900, he had relatives there. I think Nora (Hanson) Smith was his aunt, she was married to RT Smith. He was a share cropper, eventually married the land owners daughter, Mary Anna Adas, Daughter of HD and Louella (Peak) Adams of Wellington district, Rehobeth Ga. Great Grandfather; Robert S. Hanson, born 1838, Hall County, Ga. Married in Hall county, Sgt in Confederate Army, Co. A, Ga Light Infantry, POW in Pt. Lookout, and Elmira Uion prisons. released at the end of the War. Brother/half brothers - John Wesley, David Wesley, one other that had moved to Alabama, and was killed during the Civil War, and another whose name escapes me right now. GG Grandfather; John H. Hanson (sometime Hinson), born about 1777-1779, Virginia. Married in Ogelthorpe county, 1804, In Morgan county early, won two lottery lots. Lots of children from two marriages, First group of them went to Alabama before the Civil War. James and another son were in school while John H. was a school teacher for the poor children of Hall county. there is a book in the UGA Library that has an early history of Hall county that list him several times. He was a surveyor, and a Justice of the peace. Thats as far as I can go for sure. I have a group of Hansons that came from Robert Hanson/Hinson of Farquar county Va. He had a son named John in the proper time period. Also, there was a Samuel Hanson in Greenville, SC that had a John about the same time. So, I am not sure. The 1840 census for Hall county Ga, has his place of birth as Va. He, John H. was in Morgan county in the early 1800's. He was married in Oglethorpe county (Ga) in 1804 to Betsy Radford. They had property in Morgan county, which became a county in 1807, I believe. He assumed custody of Thomas Hansons orphans in Morgan county, I think that was in the 18-teens. He was a surveyor in the Indian territory after that, he was an early settler in Hall county, and a surveyor in the county north of Hall where the gold rush was. I cannot remember the district he was in at the time. He was near a community named Cool Springs, or Cool Springs Forrest. His second wife was a charter memeber of the Cool Springs Babtists church. in 1840's or 1850's. There were Watson's in almost all the census's where I found him. they were neighbors. 3. Bobby, Thanks for the information. There certainly a lot of similar names in our lines. Robert seems to be all too common ;-). I am not aware of any Watson/Hanson associations except for my grandparents. My Watson's were all from Greene County, around Woodville and Union Point. My great grandfather, Marcus Watson moved to Union Point from Walton County in the early 1850's. 3. John, We are not sure whether our Hanson line descends from the Maryland Hansons or Robert Hanson of Fauquier Co. VA., or both. The VA bunch may have originally come from MD. It appears that both lines converge in NE Georgia. Thank you for the information on Samuel Hanson and the associated family lines. We may not be descended from Samuel, but it is certainly worth exploring some additional associations. I don't recall running across any Richter's or Daniel's associated with my Hanson's, but then again, there are a lot of things I don't recall <bg>. Fortunately, I do have my files. Thanks again M.B. "Blue" Watson. ----- Original Message ----- From: John R. 3. Hi, Do you have any idea where your HANSONS came from, originally? The reason I ask is because a Col. Samuel HANSON RS-MD (1752-1830) of Washington, DC was married to a Mary KAY or KEY. One of their daughters, Serena Louisa, married Maj. Gen. Roger Chew WEIGHTMAN (1787-1876) of Alexandria, Fairfax County, VA. His sister, Elizabeth Pratt WEIGHTMAN (1791-1819), married a Chesley DANIEL, Esq. (ABT 1784-1828) of Marion, Marion County, SC. Chesley's neice or sister, we are not quite sure which, was Jane Beverly DANIEL (1795-1861) who married H. Thomas EVANS of Marion. Their children included General Beverly Daniel EVANS (1826-1897) of Sandersville, Washington County, GA, among others in this prominent family. Gen. EVANS married Isabella Charlotte SMTH, the d/o William M. SMITH and Elizabeth Jordan TARVER of Sandersville, Washington County, GA. Elizabeth Jordan TARVER was the sister of Judge Andrew E. TARVER of Jefferson County, GA and guess who lived by my GGF, Robert W. DANIEL, Esq. (1809-1865) of Bethany, Jefferson County, GA. If you said, Judge TARVER then you are correct. Now, guess who Robert W. DANIEL's daughter, Alice Elizabeth DANIEL (1854-1924), married in 1872. If you said John C. RICHTER, Sr. (1848-1907) of Madison, then you win the cupie doll. <grin> I cannot say this Chesley DANIEL of Marion is related to my DANIEL family of Burke and Jefferson County, GA but I can say that Chesley is a given name in the family of Robert W. DANIEL. The name of one of his nephews was Chesley S. WISE, the son of his older sister, Nancy DANIEL (1799-1862)....... I also cannot say your HANSONS are related to these HANSONS but they may well be if you have any connections back to my RICHTER bunch and their collaterals in Madison or any of the other names I have mentioned, here.... 1. Re: [GAMORGAN-L] Fall Roll Call-BECK
    2. Roll Call; fortunately,I am not the only one looking in Morgan Co for the Beck surname. From what I have found and tons of what I have been given by others who I can"t thank enough, the BECK line in GA starts in Columbia Co with Jesse and his sons William, Jesse Jr and John among others where they farmed near the Moon family. The BECK family moved to Morgan Co around 1810. Jesse's wife named Sarah. John (my line) Married Nancy Miers in 1817 in Morgan Co. The next I find is in Talbot Co, James C.B.Beck marred Joannah Greene in 1849. James was listed as farn labor for John Greene in 1840 census. 1850 census lists John and Joannah living next door to Nancy Beck the right age to be John's mother and ages that match his siblings I have a marriage licence to prove the Marriage of James and Joannah unfortunately their parents are not listed. Anything else that I can share, please write Oscar Stelin Beck Gardendale,Tx

    1. [GAMORGAN-L] Fall Roll Call
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. Good Morning, It has been a rather slack summer with not a lot of information going back and forth on the Morgan County, GA list. I think it is about time for a "Fall" Roll Call. So, gather your known Morgan County, GA family information and let's begin a Roll Call beginning on 1 Oct 2003. Try to include as much information about your family as possible, especially their exact names, their dates of birth/death, where they were born and died and their migration path and time frame, if known. Also try to include as much collateral information about your family as you know because this information often helps the rest of us tie in our families to your family. I apologize for being out of pocket for much of the summer but this has been a rather long summer for many in my family. Many thanks for the support you have shown me and my family. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA

He is the son of John Alexander Butts and Mattie Harrison, who were also b. in GA per John Jr's census entries. John Jr served in the Civil War, as his wife is listed on the salt list records in 1863 and 1864 in Morgan county as wife of soldier currently serving, but I haven't been able to determine his regiment yet. The family had moved to Mississippi between 1874 and 1877, based on birthplaces of children on the census in 1880. Two additional children, Mary Emily b. 1871 and George Clemmons b. 1874 were listed as b. in Georgia. Child Arthur Collins Butts, our line, was b. in 1877 in Mississippi. I am looking for any information on this family, including whether they were married in Morgan County (between 1850 and 1856), Maria's parents' names, were John's parents in the area, etc. I do not know of any siblings of John Jr, but it seems likely there would have been some. Thanks, Karen Dutton

    3. Faye, I can help you out a little bit. Bennett was an older brother of James FITZPATRICK (1801-1844) whose family later ties into my DANIEL-RICHTER bunch in Madison. I do not have anything on the SHACKELFORDS but I know that Bennett died in Crawford County, GA but I do not have anything on his wife. I would like to know more details on her family and their kids if you have this information. I would also like to know who your BISHOPS are because I have a DANIEL girl that married a BISHOP ABT 1900 that I cannot account for his BISHOP family. I do have pictures of them and know they had a son named Fred because he is in a 1920 picture with one of the FITZPATRICK boys in Madison. <<< Bennett Fitzpatrick (Benjamin, Joseph, William) was born July 19, 1799, and died December 16, 1887 in Crawford County, GA. 1. [GAMORGAN-L] A follup on Prudence Durden DANIEL of Russell County, AL
    2. John R. Clarke
    3. A follow-up: I should have read further in all of these Morgan County, GA deeds. By 1840, Prudence Durden DANIEL had re-married to an Erasmus S. C. BABBITT of Russell County, AL Prudence also had a sister, Ann DURDEN, who had married Michael MOONEY. These deeds do not list where the MOONEYS lived. Prudence BABBITT, Ann MOONEY and Stephen I. DURDEN were children of Stephen and Mary DURDEN of Morgan County, GA. I also do not know if this Stephen DURDEN was the same Stephen DURDEN who some say was a son of John DURDEN and Sarah NEWTON who migrated from IOW, VA to the Washington County, GA area or not. However, I do know the NEWTONS were a big Morgan County, GA family. This does appear to be the same Stephen DURDEN family who had a daughter named, Patience DURDEN b. ABT 1811 who married a James McFarland COLEMAN (1806-1863) on 11 OCT 1831 in Morgan County, Georgia. I do not know where she died but he died in Elba, Coffee County, Alabama. I assume you also notice what appears to be a Quaker naming patterns in this family -- Prudence and Patience. John R. Clarke Thomasville, GA
