    3. Back with you about the Sharp Family. I also got a BIG family of Beauchamps (Merriwether Co,GA and Somerset MD) and Barnes who settled in Butts County GA, who also moved west as land was opened for travel. My Beauchamps were also big settlers in Butts County GA. Daniel, born ca 1769 and died after 1850, possibly in Gordon Co. GA. but was in Merriwether Co GA for a while. First wife unknown but second wife was Sally Deason. Children by first wife were John, Charles and Nancy Anne. John stayed in Butts Co GA and had a big family and Charlles went to AL and had a big family. My Barnes are Henry (1801), Cordall/Cordale/Cordial,Nathan, Thomas, John and Thomas(1640). See any connection or would you like the entire bunch of this huge family?? Don Bankston

    3. Roy and Don, I appreciate your input, however I don't see a connection to my Sharp line. On the 1880 Elmore Co, AL federal census, John Floyd Sharp's parents birth state was given as South Carolina. Since I do not know who William Sharp's parents were, I cannot place any of his ancestors in any other state. Of course, that does not mean that the original immigrants couldn't have been in North Carolina or Virginia at one time. None of the other mentioned surnames have surfaced in my research of my Sharp line. Thanks and I certainly wish we could find that missing link. 3. Hi, Your BEAUCHAMPS (pronounced BEACHAM) has to be part of the William BEAUCHAMP (1760-1836) family of Meriwether County, Georgia. They were originally from the Somerset and Worchester County, MD area. I track some of them because I have a BEAUCHAMP in MS that is related to this bunch and one of these lines went to MS. The PARKERS and ADAMS families are all over this bunch. Artilla BEAUCHAMP was born in 1848 in MS and she married a James Harvey PIERCE (1848-1879) of Grenada County, MS ABt 1866. The PIERCES were originally from Laurel County, IN but moved to MS before the CW. Both of their sons graduated from the University of MS in Oxford and I would not be surprised if their father, JHP, was not a professor, there. One son, Edward Beauchamp PIERCE, Esq. (b. 1867) was a VP of the Chicago and Rock Island RR in 1910 and the other, William James PIERCE (1868-1910) married my aunt, Mary C. RICHTER (1876-1906) of Madison, Morgan County, GA in 1900. Their sister, Eula PIERCE, married Dr. Matthew Shrewsbury DIBRELL, MD of Van Buren, Crawford County, AR. Back to the BEAUCHAMPS, Nathan BEAUCHAMP (1808-1880) s/o William, who I think was the one who moved to MS, died in Sevier County, AR and Sevier County is right next to Crawford County, AR where the DIBRELLS lived. My 2nd GGF, Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865), father of the Mary Jane (1830-1912) who married Robert W. DANIEL, Esq.(1809-1865) of Bethany, GA in 1852, died in Brownstown, Sevier County, AR, so there is some overall connection to this area in many of these connected families. What it is -- I do not have a clue. Rev. RENEAU was a Presiding Elder in the GA and AR Conferences of the Methodist Church, South. Pretty well though of, too, even if he sometimes thought like a Presbyterian. <grin> I have a feeling I might know who your SHARPS were -- the bunch that were tied to the FARMERS, BARNES, TYSONS, DANIELS and others up in Edgecombe County, NC. 2. Harold Cochran
    3. Thanks for responding. Benjamin Cockram is believed to be from Lunenburg County, Va. along with Mathew Cockram of Morgan. They appear to be the same two men that were in Lunenburg under the name of Benjamin and Matthew Cockerham. However, nothing has been found in the Morgan County records that spell the name any other way except Cockram (or Cochran). 3. Harold, I can tell you the COCKERHAMS were around the TARVERS of Northampton County, NC and if they were in Northampton they were probably around the family of John DANIEL, Sr. of Northampton, which included the Ezekiel DANIEL who came to Morgan. We have recently discovered through DNA testing that John DANIEL, Sr., Thomas DANIEL of Tyrrell County, NC who married Elizabeth LANIER and Simon DANIELL of Edgecombe County, NC who married Elizabeth ROGERS were part of the same overall DANIEL family out of Isle of Wight County, VA. I this TARVER bunch, John TARVER (ABT 1727-1761), son of Samuel I and Mary BOYCE of Surry County, VA, married a Sarah ROGERS (ABT 1733-1768) and they lived in Johnston County, NC. Notice the ROGERS connection in this. Their son, Thomas TARVER who lived in Barnwell County, SC married a COCKERHAM and they moved to Amite County, MS. Another brother of Thomas, John Rogers TARVER moved to Jefferson County, GA. John R. 3. David, Just reply normally to the original message and before you write anything in the message -- select all of the text in the message (Ctrl-A) and right click your mouse in the highlighted part and select delete from the menu. You can also permanently turn off "include message in reply" in all replies if you are using OE by un-checking the box in "OE's Tools/Options/Send/Include Message in Reply" section. However, this is not always wise because some replies do not make any sense if you just include your reply in the message w/o including what it relates to in the original message. Let's say I wrote a post about Isham FANNIN and his family, for an example, and you wrote back -- "he did not have a son named, this or that." Without the original post included in your reply, neither I nor anyone else would have any idea what you were talking about. Does this make sense? I do understand that many subscribers do not have the fast DSL/broadband connection I use so each byte of information sent through your modem takes time and time means money if it is long distance. If such is the case, at least include some of the original message in your reply, so others will have some idea what you are talking about. In this example you might want to include a header: "RE: the family of Isham FANNIN." Does this make sense? John R. 3. Hi, I have two BECKS around some of my bunch. A BECK married Susan WRIGHT (b. ABT 1775), d/o Robert WRIGHT and a Jane, born IRELAND. Susan's siblings married into the PATTERSON, CARSWELL and BRINSON families in the vicinity of the old St. George's Parish, GA area (early Burke County, GA area). Another BECK, a John, married Elizabeth WHITFIELD (b. ABT 1730) and she was the d/o William WHITFIELD, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth GOODMAN of Bertie County, NC. I have no other details on this BECK but there were WHITFIELDS in Morgan County, GA, early - ran a cotton gin business. A note on this latter BECK family: << Elizabeth, daughter of William Whitfield and Elizabeth Goodman), md. 1st, Jonathan Taylor and had one son Jonathan Taylor, after his death she md. John Beck and had issue (1) William Beck (2) John Beck (3) Stephen Beck (4) Patsy Beck, md. Exum, (5) Charity and James Whitfield, (6) Sally Beck md. Jernegan, (7) Ann Beck md. Samuel Slocumb, (8) Mary Beck md. Wm. Whifield, (9) Nancy Beck md. Joseph Kornegay. >>> John R. 2. I am researching the lines of Jacob Chivers BUTTS. Jacob was the son of Jacob Butts and Celia Chivers of Greene County. He and his mother moved to Morgan County after the death of Celia's second husband, Thomas Wilkerson. Jacob bought land along Little Sandy Creek from his uncle Rev. Jesse Mercer in 1827. This was the beginning of his plantation as surrounding land was purchased over the years. All land was located in the Harris District around Little Sandy Creek and near the Mallory Church area. In 1832 he married Martha A. Sayers from Greene County, Martha was the last child of David Sayers Sr., and born to his second wife Elizabeth Martin. The children of Jacob Chivers Butts and Martha A. Sayers were: Eugene Oliver who married Susan E. Prior Celia Ann who married William James Blasingame William Henry H. who married Nancy Louise Turnell (Civil War Soldier, buried in Mallory Chapel Cemetery) Elizabeth Martin who married John W. Richardson (they are buried in the Rutledge City Cemetery) Sarah Josephine who married John Henry Clay Shields Safronia A. who married John A. Dalton Joel Winkfield who married Mary Elizabeth Juhan (Baptist minister in Morgan and around Georgia) Frances Bacon who married Mary Molly Wofford Theodore F.....never married it is believed Millard Filmore who married Caroline :Callie" Eugene Holman (Great granddaughter of Pheraby Dyer, a midwife in and around Madison, GA) Jacob Chivers Jr. who married Mary Frances Luckey Pat Colbert Evans, GA pogosbill@aol.com

That led to another name 'Myhand' - Epsey's mother and broke that wall within weeks! This has been my summer to make tremendous inroads in breaking brick walls - McDonald, McConnell, Butler, Myhand, Walraven... ;-) Also found my McDonald Great Great Grandfather David Adrian McDonald CSA buried right here in Richmond at Hollywood Cemetery - off to see his grave sometime this fall! 3. Blue, I kind of know what you mean -- I have a similar problem with my father's bunch. Unlike my mother's family of south GA who married their first and second cousins with great regularity, my father's bunch from Madison married all over the place and his DANIEL bunch rode into GAWGA on a UFO, it seems. <grin> I do have about 35.000 people in my PAF file, so I have a pretty good idea where each DANIEL came from and where they went. However, in my DANIEL bunch there are links between Burke, Morgan and Thomas County, GA and while I know who they are, I do not know the itty bitty details of these relationships. A fact, I really need to understand what I am seeing in some of this. Charleston and eastern North Carolina families also are in this equation, as well as a few VA families, especially over in Greene County. Take for example the Henry CARLTON family of Madison. His niece married my GGU down in Thomasville, GA and this boy's sister married R. W. DANIEL of Jefferson County, GA and his daughter married John RICHTER of Madison. There are other Round Robin links in these families between these three locations in addition to just this one example. Unlike my TOMLINSON bunch of South GA, I think this Morgan and Burke County bunch married along class lines and not family lines. We have always said the reason the TOMLINSONS married, so close, was to keep the money in the family. I just do not know about this bunch. John R. 3. Bobby, There were two families from Fauquier County, VA in Madison or with links to Madison that I know of -- the FITZPATRICKS and my RENEAU bunch, both collateral. Mary Jane RENEAU (1830-1912) was the mother of Alice E. DANIEL who married John RICHTER in 1872. Her mother was a STOCKTON whose family I am pretty sure was from the Princeton, NJ area. Her father was Rev. Russell RENEAU (1807-1865) a Presiding Elder in the Methodist Church in GA and AR. The RENEAUS moved from VA to the Jefferson County, TN area and the next generation to GA. Mary Jane's uncle was Norris RENEAU who ran a fleet of CSN privateers out of Savannah during the CW. The SEVIER family was also collateral with the RENEAUS. A lot of "Upper Neck" (VA) families in this bunch including the RAMSEYS and the NORRIS's. John R.
