    1. [GAMORGAN-L] Stewart Family in Madison
    2. Hello! I am new to the list. I am researching a STEWART family from Madison, GA. Don't have too much to go on except an obituary that was written in "The Macon Daily Telegraph" newspaper on Nov. 24, 1910: "The body of A.H. Stewart, accompanied by the bereaved family, was taken to Madison, GA, the old home, yesterday afternoon for funeral and interment..." I believe the A.H. stood for Alexander Henry. He had sons named William, Grover C. and Vernon Martin. Vernon Martin Stewart was my husband's grandfather and worked for the railroad. It is the understanding of my father-in-law that the name MARTIN was the maiden name of A.H. Stewart's first wife who died before 1900, probably in Madison or Macon. It is also understood that William Stewart worked on a plantation in Madison known as "Bakersfield Plantation"...was there such a place?? I would appreciate hearing from anyone with information about this family or the place of burial for A.H. Stewart and family. Thanks! Yvette Taylor Stewart Stockbridge, GA

    3. Probably of no help to you, but you mentioned Davis and Morgan Co. It is possible that my Robert H. Davis married Sarah Gunnells in Morgan Co., GA in 1814. Their first child was Jan 1816 which works out fine. At least some people of those names were married there. Does anyone have any information for the time period for Morgan Co. for around 1814? 3. My family records show that William Askew of Jasper County married a Morgan County woman name Mary "Polly" (___?___). A search of marriages in Georgia before 1850 shows Baty, Polly D. In our records, of their five children, one is named Joseph Beatty Askew, and another Mary Davis Askew. Mary is my 2nd greatgrandmother. Who was her mother? I am thinking that her name should be shown as Mary "Polly" Davis Beatty. Are there Batys or Beattys in Morgan County who can help me? Anybody? Thanks, Lowry
