OK, I have now put the Master Index created by Tony Pryse for the Monroe County Confederate Soldiers up on the site. To get there, go to "Online Records" from http://www.rootsweb.com/~gamonroe/ and then scroll down to Military Records (Civil War). You can look at each individual unit, or you can click on the master index and go from the soldier's name to the unit, where you will have to click on the letter for the index at the top of the unit to find them. If they served as an officer, they will be listed (by rank) at the top of the unit page. I know that this will be helpful to those of you who know you had ancestors that may have served in the Civil War (or the War of Northern Agression as it is more commonly called in the South), but you aren't sure which unit they were in. This should help, as you can then write for service and pension records based on the knowledge of what unit they served in. Be sure to thank Tony for his help in getting this to the web site. And a big thanks to Lillian Henderson who originally compiled this incredible information! :-) Mary Kathryn
