I'm hoping and praying that someone out there will have information on my Great Grandparents: ROBERT MARION WASHINGTON b. February 22, 1825, in Georgia d. October 18, 1882, in Butts Co., GA (He is the son of GEORGE HAMMOND WASHINGTON and ELIZABETH ANN WEAVER.) married (second wife) on September 15, 1872: MARTHA JANE SPEAR b. January 28, 1834 d. March 13, 1879 I do not have documentation for his marriage to Martha Jane Spear, but the tombstone at Towaliga Baptist Church, Butts County, Georgia, is very near the grave of Robert Marion Washington, who is buried by his first wife, Mary Susannah Caston. ROBERT MARION and MARTHA JANE WASHINGTON had three sons: ALBERT LEE WASHINGTON b. December 4, 1873 d. October 3, 1874 WALTER ADELBERT WASHINGTON b. January 1, 1875 d. September 26, 1889 (Walter Adelbert was reared by GEORGE LEWIS WASHINGTON, Jackson, Worthville Community, Butts County, Georgia. ALLEN MATHEW WASHINGTON b. February 27, 1879, Butt Co., GA d. December 13, 1944, Forsyth, Monroe Co., GA, buried in Towaliga Baptist Ch. Cem. (Allen was reared by his half-sister, AMANDA JANE WASHINGTON GRANT. Amanda was the wife of LARKIN GRANT.) My Grandfather ALLEN MATHEW WASHINGTON is the only child who reached adulthood, married and had children.
