These URLs should help all of us... http://www.cyndislist.com/internet.htm#Netiquette http://www.rootsweb.com http://www.cyndislist.com These sites will help each of us in our searches and use of the computer. In my opinion, they are the most complete sources of computer genealogy research and most helpful with off-line research as well. I would also like to recommend these two RootsWeb lists to help with computer problems, and "genning" questions...the helpers here will not laugh at the questions you have.....they are very helpful. NEWGEN-L, and COMPUTERS-L To subscribe, enter the address and in body enter the word "subscribe" (no quotes). Delete all signature lines, etc. Hit send...you will receive a welcome message almost immediately. Print a copy for future reference. NEWGEN-L-request@rootsweb.com COMPUTERS-L-request@rootsweb.com These two lists can be very busy at times, so if you wish use the digest mode, which groups messages in clusters, to save space in your inbox, just subscribe in the same way as before but substitute a D (for Digest) where the L is. Unless your own e-mail program requires it, no subject is necessary. BTW, Cyndi herself has recently subscribed to the NEWGEN list to help us all... what a treat!!! Jennifer Sherwood Braswell jensgen@iol10.com Feel free to share helpful sites and lists when you find them.

Here goes--- My name is on my signature line and I have been on this list since late spring. My mother was born in Dyas, Georgia, attended the school at Culloden, and graduated from Mary Persons High School in 1942. Her name was Margaret Louise O'NEAL and she was the 8th child of 10 belonging to Grady and Josie HARBUCK O'NEAL. I began "genning" in November of 1998 and have met many new friends, cousins, and wonderful helpers along the way. I am responsible for coming up with ideas that will stimulate activity on this list, and I welcome ideas from you as well. My surnames for research in Monroe CO are: O'NEAL (any variation) HARBUCK ANDREWS WRIGHT LINDSEY RICKENBECKER (SP?) BARNES BOWDOIN MACKEY SMITH CHILDS/CHILES McELROY (some of these lines lived in Crawford and Upson Counties, too.) Currently, I am searching for information about the CHILDS family who may have been living here in the late 1800s. I have marriage info that says that Lizzie CHILDS married Cason SHERWOOD in Dec. 1895 in Monroe CO. I have no records, and very few leads to who her parents were, and where they lived. The SHERWOODS lived in the northern part of Bibb CO between Monroe and Jones counties. There were some CHILDS in Jones CO at this time as well. Lizzie's name on her tombstone reads Sarah Elizabeth Chiles Sherwood (d. 1907). She is buried at Riverside cemetery. No obituary, or leading info was available from the cemetery office. For all beginners, I recommend RootsWeb. They can meet just about any computer need or genealogy need you may have in some way...even if it is a referral to some one or some place. Whenever you have time to so, take a browse...there's something new daily... Jennifer Sherwood Braswell jensgen@iol10.com
Hello all MONROE CO GA "genners"!!! Some if us have been away for the duration of the season, because we were traveling, sick with the flu, or entertaining our children while they out of school. I have been delighted to see that our list has not been idle, and apparently we have some new names to be shared... I hope we have some newcomers...I'm all ready to share my names and maybe meet some new cousins... We need to acquaint ourselves and share our NewNess within our group of listers Let's do so by sharing our own name and then list our MONROE CO names we are researching by surname (in CAPITAL letters) and the specific info we are seeking here. If you are new to the list, qualify your newness category... 1. New to PCs 2. New to Genealogy and PCs 3. New to Genealogy, but not PCs 4. New to GAMONROE rootsweb list If you will specify your NewNess category, then we can help with a more touch. This is a great list, and we are blessed to have so many listers who are well-versed in knowledge of names, geography, and other resources concerning Monroe CO GA. and don't forget to visit our handy website... http://www.rootsweb.com/~gamonroe/ If you have a specific need or question relating to your newness, don't be too timid to ask...even the most experienced " genner" is always learning about a new skill, or resource. And " genpals" are helpful and willing to share... as always, if you prefer, a regular post / query is fine if that is all you prefer to do... I will try to offer helpful web sites, and other resources that will be helpful to newcomers, and invite other listers regardless of experience to do so as well. Repeats are welcome since newcomers are always signing on from time to time... Listers who have a special service to offer, please do so...we are so blessed to have you available to help us with our needs. Please use the Subject line above to relate to this request for info. I'll start with posting my information in the next post. Have Blessed New Year!!! Jennifer Sherwood Braswell jensgen@iol10.com

I am looking for information on the Family of Murray E Driskell, my grandfather. He lived in Taylor County. His father was Oscar T. Driskell and his mother was Minnie Lee Philmon. Thanks Dennis
Mary E. Parham (b. 16 Jul 1831; d. 2 Aug 1852) married George Andrew Wesley Tigner (b. 16 Nov 1828; d. 27 Oct 1882) on 17 Oct 1849. George Tigner's parents were Hope Hull Tigner & Eliza Anderson Glenn. Who are Mary's parents? Are there any Parhams in the 1840 MONROE Co, GA census?
