Some of you have written to inquire about these articles. I would think the best way to obtain them would be to write the Burke County Genealogical Society to inquire if copies of back issues can be obtained. Sorry, but I can't tell you how much they would cost. I've copied and pasted into this message, all I have at this time on the BCGS. Box 661 Morganton, NC 28680-0661 One may join the Society by sending their dues to The Burke County Genealogical Society, PO BOX 661, Morganton, N.C., 28680. The dues are, presently, as follows: Individual membership: $ 12.00 per year; Family membership: $15.00 per year ( One Journal per family address is sent but husband and wife each have voting rights); Contributing membership: $25.00 ( Moneys above $12.00 go to buy microfilms or books for the North Carolina Room at the Morganton library.) Membership dues are on a calendar year basis from January 1 to December 31. New mid-year memberships will receive all the journals for that calendar year. Those who join after October 1, should indicate if they wish their membership to begin with the coming year or if they wish to receive all the present year's journals. An application brochure may be obtained from the Society's address or they may mail in their dues without an application. The new member should include their Burke County surnames they are researching. The society publishes a membership list every few years as well as an update of new members on an annual basis, including the surnames being researched. Journals are published on a quarterly basis. Material for publication is solicited from the membership for consideration for publication in the Journal. Queries are free to members. The Society does not have researchers, but limited research is done, for a small fee, by the Curator of the NC Room. [The May meeting will be in the meeting room of the Burke County Public Library in Morganton.] **While the Library is closed for renovations from mid July to late December, the meetings will be in a court room on the main level of the Burke County Courthouse.
