Gloria, I have many Waltons in my family who hail from Meriweather Cty. One of my ancestrial grandmothers was Eleanor Walton [Ector]. My Ector family was in Mer.Cty. at the time of the war and lost everything as a result thereof. They did own slaves, which I am sorry to attest to. But they were so well treated that they took the Ector name when given their freedom. My grandfather Hugh Walton Ector gave the land the city is built on I will submit anything further I find out about "Eleanor". Take care.
