Hi, I am trying to find an AMOS CHUNN in Woodbury. Estimating this AMOS CHUNN b. in late1850's/early 1860's, Woodbury. Meriwether Co. This AMOS CHUNN MAY be a son of LEWIS MCCLENDON CHUNN, b.Nov. 26, 1827 for I do not have the children of Lewis M. CHUNN. Believe AMOS' wife to be HATTIE WHEELUS, dau of WILLIAM. P. WHEELUS Their children were: 1. ELLIS CHUNN b. ?; never married (Don't know where he belongs in birth order, but probably first.) 2. EUNICE PARK "Isti" CHUNN b. Dec, 08, 1888 d. Sept. 07, 1967 m. Nov, 15, 1911, JOHN EMMETT PATTERSON WARD 3. ETTA CHUNN b. abt. 1894 m. WILLARD BROWN(Undertaker in Woodbury.) 4. INA "Tiny" CHUNN b. abt. 1896 m. Mr. IRVING 5. LOU EFFIE "Peppie" CHUNN b. abt. 1898 m. Mr. GARNETT 6. BELMA CHUNN b. abt. 1900 (a nurse) m. 2nd. Mr. SMITH 7. THELMA KAY "Tekie" CHUNN b. abt. 1902 d. Feb. 09, 1987 m. Sept. 06, 1926, BENJAMIN M. WOODRUFF #2 above, EUNICE P. CHUNN, and her husband, JOHN E. P. WARD, married, raised their children, and died in Woodbury. One of these children is FRANCIS PARK WARD, who will be 84 on April 27, 1999. I am trying to prepare a family tree for his birthday present. He believes Eunice's father, his grandfather, was named AMOS, but Mr. Ward really only knows that he called his grandparents "Pa Chunn" and "Ma Chunn." He does know that "Ma Chunn" was a WHEELUS before she married. The Chunn and Wheelus families were instrumental in early days of the Methodist Church in Woodbury, and I believe some their descendants must still live there. I have found two AMOS CHUNNs in Woodbury, but they were born too early to be Mr. Ward's grandfather. If anyone has information/clues/direction re Mr.Ward's grandfather's name, etc., I--and Mr. Ward-- would be very grateful! Hi, Is your map the one that lists the landowners and the locations for their property? I'll be glad to check the deed index to help narrow down the location for you. I had hoped to go today or wed, but it looks like thursday or fri now. Hi! Would you please tell me about where William Allen Johnathan Phillips lived? I have one of the 1910 maps, if you could just give me a general idea I would appreciate it. Thanks, Beverly Mitchell
Your message got my attention in a big hurry. I am a descendant of Benjamin Caperal BRILEY and Nancy Delaney FARLEY. I also have some, not much information on HUDSON. Love to hear from you. Ron Massey Shreveport, LA
Are you related to the Briley who wrote the book on some cemeteries in La.? Mike, Thanks so much for sending the Mary Burton information. It appears to be a match. I appreciate your taking the time to send this. Louise Pettus
Mary Burton is listed on page 393B in 1850 Meriwether co., census. She is then 60, b SC. In the household are William E Holliday, a 37, minister, b SC; Mary, a 23, b NC; Clary F, 5/12, b GA; Dovey Laney (female) a 44, b NC; Elizabeth, a 34, b NC. On pg 399 is listed Isaiah Burton, 44, farmer, $10000, b SC; Margaret, a 42, b SC; James A 15, b GA; Emily A 14; Josaphine 12; Job 9; Anusica? 7; John N 5, Jeremiah 4; Margaret 1. Good hunting, Mike
A search for Mary Burton in Georgia yielded only one--in Meriwether County. I would love to have a lookup for the 1850 census that would reveal who was in the same household. I do not think she had a son alive in 1850 but had at least two daughters, Susan, who married Irvin Sutton and Mary Springs Burton, unmarried in 1844. Mary Burton was born in York District, SC, daughter of Capt. George Pettus and Jane Knox. She was a widow of William Burton of Mecklenburg County, NC. She attended Flint Hill Baptist Church in Fort Mill township of York District. After her husband's death in early 1840s the Flint Hill church record states: "Moved to Georgia" and no more. Thank you and if I can help anyone out with York County, SC information I would be happy to try. Louise Pettus

Hi, I am searching for any information one may have on Thomas Crouch. B. 1811, died at Gay, Ga. 1884. Gay, Ga. is in Meriwether County. Thomas had a son named Morris Crouch who married a Mary Lavonia Strickland from Concord, Ga. (Pike County) around 1869. My grandfather Roy Crouch came from this marriage. He farmed the land around Gay like his father and his father. My mother was born in Gay, Ga. Her name was Doris Elizabeth Crouch. All our buried (Except my mother who is still living) in the Crouch Cemetary there in Gay, Ga. Any information on anyone in this family line would be appreciated. Thank You Mark E. Bridges
