    3. Hello Stefanie, I read your response to the person searching for Mary Burton. Bowles Chapel was started by my great grandfather, Walter Bowles! I learned about this a year ago. His wife was Marietta Evans. How can I get a copy of that book? Love and Peace Imani Bowles

Do you know if Obadiah was his brother? Also, was Hiram's wife, Sarah Watts, born in Massachusetts or Georgia? Do you happen to have any more details about this family? Lynn

    3. Would someone please lookup in the cemetery book Mary Burton who was living in Meriwether County in the 1850 census. I do not know her birth or death date but she was most likely born in the 1790s. In 1850 she was living with her son-in-law, Rev. Wm. E. Holliday, a Methodist minister and daughter, Mary Springs Burton Holliday. I sure would appreciate it. I searched for her nearly 30 years before finding that she had moved to Meriwether County after the death of her husband in Mecklenburg County, NC. in 1842. Louise Pettus Rock Hill, S. C.

    1. [GAMERIWE-L] Hiram Warner, Greenville, 1840-1870's
    2. Hi all, I am new to genealogy and just subscribed to this list. I am researching Hiram Warner born 1802 in Massachusetts and died 1881 somewhere in Georgia. I think he was a Judge in the Georgia Supreme Court and believe he is buried in Town Cemetary in Greenville. Does anyone know anything about this man? Does he have a history in Greenville? Any children? Was he married? Maybe more than once? Also, can anyone give me the name and author of a book about Meriwether County history that I could get on inter library loan out here on the west coast? I'd like to find out about this area and how life was for the people who lived there from the early 1800's til about 1920 or so. Your help will be very much appreciated. Lynn

    1. [GAMERIWE-L] New Hope Methodist church Cem.
    2. Hi to all researchers of Meriwether Co. I have three copies of pages from "Meriwether County, Georgia Cemeteries" Unfortunately, I didn't copy the page that gives the directions, but according to those pages (that list my Roberts ancestors) there is a New Hope Methodist Cemetery. Actually there is a small building downtown in Greenville, not to far from the courthouse, that houses some historical information about Greenville. A person that is the holder of this geneological information gave me these directions to New Hope Methodist. about two miles out of downtown Greenville, there is a highway 362 turn on Callaway Rd. then to Alvaton about 7 miles down, on the left will be a white church and the cemetery. Can any of you that live in Merwether co. make any sense of this? I hope I didn't make things worse. Anyone, on this list have any Meriwether Roberts ancestors? Or Turners? Edyie Toole Seufert

My mother was raised in Meriwether County and she may know the location. I can call her tomorrow if this information is not sufficient. Patty Edwards
