Hi, I've had several researchers ask me where the name "Micajah" comes from and what is it's meaning. Found this link to a good site on the etymology of First Names in case anyone is interested. http://www.pacificcoast.net/~muck/etym.html This list contains Latin words with their English translations...Very useful to decipher old documents http://www.familysearch.org/sg/WLLatin.html by GENEALOGICAL WORD LIST FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARYTM 35 North West Temple Street Salt Lake City, Utah 84150-3400 USA BTW here is the answer to the question on "Micajah" MICAJAH (m) "who is like the Lord?" (Hebrew). This name does not occur in the bible. It is perhaps a learned attempt at creating an equivalent of MICHAEL. Regards, Debbie Fowler micajah@charter.net
Some of you have written to inquire about these articles. I would think the best way to obtain them would be to write the Burke County Genealogical Society to inquire if copies of back issues can be obtained. Sorry, but I can't tell you how much they would cost. I've copied and pasted into this message, all I have at this time on the BCGS. Write the Society at the address below Sincerely, Debbie Fowler micajah@charter.net The Burke County Genealogical Society P.O. The Ector family is working on the same thing for this October. We're considering a B&B in Warm Springs, also the Day's Inn in LaGrange which has a large meeting room. Haven't found out about the B&B as yet. You can contact me personally if you like. I am: Rayanne Ector-Cain Eector3@aol.com

Pam, I thought that Bio on Hiram Warner was excellent. I printed it out and will put it in my Roberts family tree book, as a timeline of a Prominent person who lived in Greenville at the time of my ancestors. Good work. Edyie Seufert
Hi all, to those who live in the area, I'm looking for a place to hold a reunion next summer. Any ideas? It would have been my grandfather's 100th b-day, so it may be a large crowd. Thanks, Pam , Pam
Hello all, I am looking for birth record information for members of a family that were in Georgia (Meriwether County by and large) from 1820-1900. However, when I called the county clerk, she said that they don't have records before about 1920. Is there another repository for these records? If not, where can I look for birth information? Lynn
List, I am looking for death information of the mother of Sallie Warner. I am not certain of Sallie's mother's name but suspect that it is Lucretia or Lucreacy or Lucy. Lucretia would have been born about 1850 and died about 1871 or 1872. Sallie was born in Greenville in 1871 and I suspect that her mother did shortly after her birth. Is there a Winnie Warner or Elihue Warner listed in the cemetary book? Also would like to know who Sallie's father was if anyone on the list knows! Thanks in advance for your help. Lynn
Hello, List. Hiram Warner, in 1850, was 47, a farmer and attorney, $12600 value, bn Mass. His wife, Sarah W, 48, was bn GA; child Mary J, 18, bn GA; and in househould also, Wm Murphy, 20, farmer, bn GA. House/Family #503.
Hi Stephanie, Thank you very much for the information on where to purchase the book. Yes, it is very exciting for me to learn about my ancestors. By the way, I've been told that Bowles Chapel was also one of the first black schools in Georgia! I plan to visit and take pictures this summer. Peace and love Imani
