Cari, Trying to find parents of Andrew J. Cooper, b. 02 Feb. 1836 in GA. Any Coopers in your database? Thanks, John Weldon Midland, TX.
I realize this is not a specific request and I do vounteer work so I know you cant look up a name without moreto go on. My ancestot Thomas Black died in Meriwether Co. between 1850 and 1860. As you roam cemeries and eversee a stone with that name I would be most appreciative. He appears in 1850 census with Children Nan and Issac Russell. In 1860 children are listed as orphans,Issac my grandfather was born in 1843. This is my dead end. Any clues as to where to search would be appreciated. Elaine s88897@aol.com
Rayanne and all, thank you so much for your kind words. I enjoy helping with what I can in everyone's research associated with Meriwether County. My family roots are not in Meriwether County, but since I've lived her nearly all of my life, I want to do what I can to help researchers of this area. I have gained very valuable information in my own searching from kind volunteers in other counties. I want to encourage everyone to volunteer in your geographic area. Subscribe to the mailing list in the county where you live now. Even if you don't have a lot of time to spend at the library, you may just know of a local historian you could refer others too, you may know of a historical place nearby that someone is looking for, you may be able to help with directions to churches/cemeteries, etc. Now, with that being said, I offer my time in cemetery photos (have a digital camera) for researchers looking for Meriwether County relatives. If you will send me the specific names, the cemetery (and directions if possible), I will keep a list and photograph headstones/markers as I can get to them. I live on the county line at the southern end of this fairly large county and it may take me several months to get to your specific request, but if you are a patient person, I'll do my best to see what I can do with the requests. Good Luck to all and please consider being a volunteer in your current county even if your own family roots are not planted there. millie cook manchester, ga Eector3@aol.com wrote: > Millie. Anyone have any records of William Robert and Mary Jane Whites or any Shackelford/Shacklefords? Thanks for your help! Ann Morgan
Stefani, You are so sweet to look this up for me. None of the Tidwells look like mine but I do have McCARTERs in Harris Co. Thankyou so very much Cari
Thanks Stefani, Their grandson said he thought they were buried in Manchester. They were living in Manchester with a relative at the time of their deaths. I was really hoping they would be in the book. They have been a real challenge! Thanks again for your effort. Cari
Would someone check for a William Porter TIDWELL, W.P. TIDWELL or maybe Billy TIDWELL and his wife Ella ARGROVES TIDWELL. It could be Mary Ella TIDWELL. They both died in the early 1940's but no one in the family can give me true dates. Thankyou so very much. Cari Spano Girard Ohio
Oops, that should have been to Millie. Ron Massey Shreveport, LA
Sybil, I would be interested to know if you find any information on the names BRILEY or FARLEY. Thanks, Ron Massey Shreveport, LA
Kellie, You mentioned that you have a book on Thrash family history. I just got my hands on a copy of a book "Thrash Families" written by Ann Thrash. If that is the book you have I would like to discuss it with you. I believe I have found my line in it. If it isn't the book you have I would like to discuss that also. Please e-mail me directly at ptm2754@cs.com Thanks, Pam <Date: Sat, 22 Jan 2000 07:10:02 EST From: KJRich77@aol.com To: GAMERIWE-L@rootsweb.com Message-ID: <15.88e125.25baf81a@aol.com> Subject: [GAMERIWE] Re: Perry/Thrash Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit I have a book on the Thrash family history and will look and see if there is any info on this person you are seeking. Millie, You are the first response I have had to this question. Thank you very much. I also wanted to let you know that since posting my ARGROVEs message last week, my brick wall has just started tumbling down! Thank you ever so much. Cari Spano Girard, Ohio
Will try to find someone if you haven't gotten an answer back on this already. May take a few days. millie cook manchester, ga Cari75@aol.com wrote: > Does anyone know how I could get in touch with someone from New Hope > Methodist Church in Wooster? Millie. I am so grateful that you do the job you do for genealogy in Meriwether. My Ector family met there at the Methodist Church for two and a half days this past Oct. We did not find any Ectors buried "up the hill" from the church (forget cemetery name). I know we must have missed some other cemeteries, what with our limited time schedule. So in your cemetery stomping, would appreciate you remembering our name. Heartful thanks. @@@ @@@@ @ @ @ @ )( Rayanne
Does anyone know how I could get in touch with someone from New Hope Methodist Church in Wooster? I have several ancestors buried there and want to speak to someone about the church records. I learned from someone recently that the church only meets one Sunday per month now. One of my ancestors was on the building committee for the church. Any response would be appreciated. Thanks, Cari Spano Girard, Ohio
I am looking for information on my ancestor George Washington Reed from Meriwether County. According to his Confederate records he was born there, but eventually he ended up in Franklin County where he married. I found a source that listed his father as James Reed. Any suggestions? I would appreciate any help. Thank-you.
Sybil, The only book I have at home is Ms. Pinkston's book on the history of Meriwether County and I don't see him listed in the index. There are 3 other Thompson's listed but no a Robert. I will be glad to save your message and see if I find anything next time I'm at our local library. Do you have any other info on him? Which community he lived in? Wife's name? Where he may be buried? anything else that may help me locate him in other sources? millie Sybil Thompson wrote: > Could you lookup Robert Thompson, died in Meriwether, GA in 1835. Could you lookup Robert Thompson, died in Meriwether, GA in 1835. I am trying to find more information about him. He is possibly my gggrandfather. I would appreciate your help. Thanks. Sybil Thompson

Linda, At this point I know next to nothing about Annie Jane PERRY. I've just started researching. This may not help you much, but here it is anyway. William A. THRASH and wife, Virginia LIGON, and son, Thomas, age 1, were on 1850 Meriwether Co. census. There was also a LEGAN family on that census which I believe is Virginia's LIGON family. By 1880, they were in Floyd County, GA, along with other children, including my gr-gr-grandfather, William Hammett, age 24. He is not shown with a wife at that time. He first married Martha Ann Francis BRYAN (my gr-gr-grandmother). My father has a notation that they married 10/1884 and that she died 7/6/1889, but he can't remember where he got that info. We're not sure when or where William Hammett married Annie Jane PERRY, but they raised his children by first wife and their own in north Alabama. She is buried at Piney Grove Church near Grove Oak in DeKalb County, Alabama. Tombstone says born 6/28/1874, died 2/28/1950. There are 2 THRASH cemeteries in Meriwether Co. so there probably were THRASH family ties there even after they moved to Floyd Co. Hammett could have known her from there or he could have met her in Alabama. I would venture to guess that with two very young children, he would have married before moving away. I may find more on her. If so, I will try to remember to post here. I am very interested in finding info on Martha Ann Francis BRYAN. We know nothing of her except her name and we have a portrait of her. Pam, a THRASH in Alabama
