    3. Cari, you can put my HARRIS request on a back burner. I am in no hurry, and appreciate all you've done. The Slaton request should be easier, but again, I am in no hurry whatsoever. Elizabeth

    3. Cari, I would love HARRIS lookups. There may be many, so if this is true, here is a URL where there are some names I would love to see the most. This is a "virtual cemetery" of HARRISes buried in the Greenville cemetery: http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/Choir/1824/meriwether4.html My other request is for SLATON/SLAYTON/SLAYDEN. Can you remind me of your source? My email account was completely wiped out yesterday, taking with it all my stored emails (over 20,000), bookmarks, and inbox (almost 2000 there). Thank you! Elizabeth

    2. Cari, your description of files on the office floor describes my office exactly. I laughed at your description as it sure fits my genealogy files. Thanks. Gus

    2. Cari, I found some McCrarys listed n a GEDCOM which also listed Charles Martin HIPP. The GEDCOM NO. is GED 17271 and can be downloaded from ANCESTRY. COM (a wonderful site) at http://www.ancestry.com/main.htm After accessing the URL, just type in the Surname "HIPP" ( or whatever name one wishes to search) and no first name and click on "SEARCH". Then click on "Ancestry World Tree entries for HIPP". In the right column --"ORIGINAL File"--there are files for downloading. Select the NAME in the left column that you wish to search, such as "CHARLES MARTIN HIPP" on file no. 7 and click on "Download original file" then you will see the File No. 17271 come up for downloading. Select the type of download you want and click on it to complete the download. Other than the connections above, I haven't found any McCrary name associated with the HIPP name. Sorry I couldn't help you more. Gus

    1. [GAMERIWE] Red Oak Creek, Red Oak Church Cemetery
    2. Does anyone know anything about this church or cemetery? In about 1980 my then already 86 year old grandmother told my sister that our g-g-granfather M. M. ARGROVES, (Mathias ARGROVES) was buried there. He was killed in the Civil War and his brother Allen is supposed to have brought him home to be buried. I don't know if this part is true. My mother who grew up in Meriwether Co. said that she thought this was an African-American Church and cemetery. We are not African-American. I hope no one takes offense to this. It is by no means meant in a racial way. I am just trying to narrow down my search for my Civil War Soldier's grave. Any one who knows anything about this cemetery please email me. Thanks a million, Cari

    1. [GAMERIWE] Phelps, Phelts, Felps, Felpts
    2. I am resending this in hopes that someone missed it before and will see it. Thanks for understanding. Cari Does anyone know anything about the PHELPS family who lived in Meriwether Co., GA? I have Reuben in 1850 census, living in a Stricklin household. He was 26 years old. Jacob J. PHELPS, W. W. PHELPS and William PHELPS in 1860 census, Meriwether Co., Magadalena P.O. Elizabeth PHELPS married Barton, BENNETT 03/13/1834 Parmelia PHELPS married John SIMS 09/03/1835 Aquila PHELPS married Matilda GLASE 12/14/1838 I can not connect to any of them yet. My gg grandfather Wiley Barnes ROBERTS married Georgia Anna/Georgianna PHELPS/PHELTS in 1871 in Meriwether Co. If any one has ANYTHING on the PHELPS of Meriwether Co. please email me. If anyone has access to 1860 census it would tell me if she was listed as a child in Meri. Co. or if anyone can find her grave listed anywhere. She would have been listed as Georgia Anna/Georgianna ROBERTS as she was married at the time of her death. She died between 1877-1881. Thank you for any input that you can give. Cari

    2. Gus, I recently saw a list of genealogy terms and definitions, humorous of course. The definition of FLOOR was...the place where all your priceless genealogy data is piled. I laughed soooo hard. How very true. I am not nearly as organized as I would like. I recently worked my way through a huge stack of papers, and now I have a new stack. I always vow to file everything before I look for more. THAT IS A HUGE JOKE. Eventually the paper takes over my little OFFICE so I have to do something with it. I really wasn't trying so much to find inof on Obie Jeter, just wondered if we had a connection. Take Care, Cari

    2. Cari, I don't recall running into the name "Obie JETER", but that doesn't mean he is not in my files somewhere. It does tell me and you the state of my files on the JETERS though. I have much work to do to sort out all of my data and recognize specific names. After all your help, I'm sorry that I am not able right now to help you. Best regards. Gus

    2. I have enjoyed being of help to all of you. I have had a great number of people who have helped me when I needed it and it feels wonderful to be doing something in return. .However, I do have one request. Please send only one name per request, (variations of the name are fine), and send only one request per day as I am busy with my own research as well and running a household. Please do not take this as my not wanting to help. I have received requests for as many as four surnames at once and they wanted me to search all 4 databases. This does take time. So, I will have to limit what I will do at one time but by no means take this as me not wanting to help. Thanks for understanding, Cari

    3. Gus, do you have anything on CLARA JETER (1766-1850) who married ABSALOM HARRIS, and was the daughter of JOSEPH JETER? They lived in Hancock and Troup counties; their descendants lived in Meriwether co.. Or, on RHODA HENDERSON TURNER, who married JOSEPH RICHARD SASSNETT? Their daughter JUDITH ANN SASNETT married ABSALOM G. HARRIS whose children lived in Meriwether also. I am a HARRIS descendant. 2. Elizabeth, thank you for your inquiry. I don't have my JETER info organized yet, so I really can't go back in any great detail. However, my JETER line runs from Mary Emma Jeter Hipp (my Mom), Wilbur Jeter, Thomas F. Jeter, James Albert Jeter and on to John II and John I. I am not completely familiar with the Jeter line yet, so cannot give any details at this time. Do you have any data that shows a connection with my JETERS? Best regards. Gus
