    3. According to the Marion history book by Rena Cobb, Lewis Anderson Hogg was the brother of James Euclidus Hogg, both being sons of James Hogg of South Carolina. However, there is a mention that one of their brothers Samuel Hogg was born 1811. That would seem to be too early for the Lewis A. Hogg in the pension application, as his birth date given in the pension papers was 25 April 1836. Not impossible, but unusual. Perhaps someone on this list can clarify.
