Quite a large crowd attended preaching at New Life Sunday. Messrs. Walter Wall and Grover Bryant were the guests of relatives here Sunday. Mr. Lake McCrary passed through our community Saturday. Black Eyes The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Doyle Mr. and Mrs. A.K. Pickard, of Buena Vista spent Sunday evening with relatives here. Miss Atta Belle Gresham is spending several days with friends and relatives in Macon this week. Mr. George Persons, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with home folks here. Mrs. M.B. McCrary and little daughter, Elizabeth, and Clementine Strozier, of Buena Vista, spent Friday very pleasantly with Mrs. J.S. Rogers. Mrs. Rob Stevens and three little daughters, of Putnam, spent Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Fulford, near Buena Vista. Mr. and Mrs. G.C. Persons and Miss Mattie Kate King spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Persons of Schley. Mr. Emmette Cooke, of Buena Vista, spent Sunday with Mr. Laz Wiggins. Messrs. Rogers Williams, of Ellaville, and Turner Williams, of Buena Vista, made a business trip to Doyle Monday. Little Miss Tommylee Kilcrease who has been sick with typhoid fever, is improving. Messrs. Alvah Dickinson and Burton Cooke and Misses Belle and Addye Cooke were in Doyle Sunday evening. Miss Mattie Kate King returned to her home in Box Springs Tuesday, after spending a week with her sister, Mrs. G.C. Persons. Mr. Willie Wiggins spent Saturday in Buena Vista on business. Plow Boy The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Pine Knot Mrs. Clara Tyner and children, of Phenix City, Ala., are visiting relatives on Pine Knot this week. Mrs. Will Weed died Saturday after a short illness. She is survived by a host of sorrowing friends and relatives. Dr. Baisden, of Box Springs, was here on business last week. Messrs. M.T. Fielder and David Greene and Thomas Tyler attended the religious lecture at the May schoolhouse Friday night. There will be a picnic at the McMurrain Springs on July 3rd, given by the Messrs. Culpepper. Music by a string band from Columbus. Everybody cordially invited to come and bring somebody with you. Miss Eva Chalkley and father, of Juniper, attended the three days' meeting at County Line. Mrs. Carrie Tyner, of Girard, Ala., has come to live with her parents here. Mr. J. Harris visited Columbus last Saturday and Sunday. Messrs. J.W. and J.A. Tyler made a business trip to Buena Vista Saturday. The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Draneville Mr. Luther Cranford has his new residence almost completed. Rev. Allison filled his appointment at Draneville Sunday. Ed Kidd and family, of Schley, spent last Sunday at the home of J.W. Gooding. Mr. J.H. Tatum and sons, Fred and John, were in Buena Vista Friday. Wm. Langford is quite sick with the fever. The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Juniper Mr. W.J. Walker, of Chattahoochee County, spent a few hours with relatives here last Thursday. Mr. G.W. Posey made a business trip to Columbus last week. Dr. Baisden, of Box Springs, was in Juniper Saturday. Mr. W.A. Walker was tending to business in Box Springs last Friday. Mr. Boswell, of Junction City, spent Sunday very pleasantly at the home of Mr. E.L. Nelson. Mr. John Brown of Mt. Olive was in our midst Monday. Miss Willie Wyrick and brother, Jerry, spent last Sunday with friends near King's Mill. Mr. W.A. Walker was called to the bedside of his sistser, Mrs. W.H. Weed, at Short's Mill Monday. Mrs. W.H. Weed died at her home near Short's Mill last Friday morning, and was buried in the afternoon at 5:30 services conducted by Rev. W.P. Allison. She is survived by a husband and six children. Mrs. Weed was forty-two years of age, had a loving, Christian disposition and many friends. The Marion County Patriot, No. 22 Friday, June 11, 1909 Page Three Dundee The singing at Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Perry's Sunday afternoon was well attended. Messrs. Loyd Cartwright and Joseph Bryan went to Rabbit Sunday to have their fortunes told. Misses Ethel and Forrest McMickle were the charming guests of Mrs. J.H. Spear last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Chapman spent Saturday and Sunday the guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.D. McMickle. Miss Lois McElmurray has ben on the sick list the past week, but is improving at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. J.H. Spear spent Saturday and Sunday with home folks at Japanese. Quite a number of people from here are anticipating a delightful time at Warm Springs on the 10th inst. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McMickle spent Sunday very pleasantly with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jerome McElmurray. The all-day singing at Dundee on the 4th has been postponed until sometime in July. Plunket
